Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episodes 1-7.Ahead of its third season, Invincible season 3 announced several new cast , including Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Jonathan Banks, and many more established names. So far, these stars haven't disappointed as they've provided strong performances and enhanced the already exceptional plot, but Prime Video's hit superhero series surprised us with the inclusion of another recognizable voice that wasn't previously d.

The Invincible War introduced a number of new characters to the show, including the 18 Mark Grayson variants teased in episode 6, all voiced by Steven Yeun. However, one of Invincible's most hyped characters also debuted in season 3's destructive episode, and the instantly identifiable voice may have come as quite a shock. Given some of the teases and connections the new addition has with Invincible, some fans had already anticipated that he'd the show eventually, but with his involvement being kept a secret, I couldn't be more excited to see what sort of role he plays going forward.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Appeared As Conquest At The End Of Invincible Season 3, Episode 7

Morgan's Casting Continues An Invincible & Walking Dead Connection

After almost three full seasons, Conquest finally made his official Invincible debut, and he was voiced by none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Although the Viltrumite had a brief appearance during season 1, it was only a visual one, showing up when Omni-Man told Mark about Viltrum's true purpose. Now, he has made his presence on Earth known and confronted Mark directly, with Morgan's iconic voice giving the villain plenty of grit and authority. Given Morgan wasn't announced ahead of the season, his appearance comes as a genuine surprise, but one that is incredibly exciting based on his previous work.

He is no stranger to playing a villain, and Morgan also became the latest actor to crossover from The Walking Dead into Invincible, having played Negan in the zombie show. He also made his debut in Prime Video's other popular superhero show, starring as Joe Kessler in The Boys season 4, another entertaining villain. While his role as Conquest will channel a more commanding and intimidating sound rather than his usual charismatic tone, Morgan's powerful voice is more than capable of pulling off the Viltrumite, as his small cameo proved, making him Invincible season 3's best new addition yet.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Was Rumored To The Invincible Cast In Season 2

There Was Heavy Speculation About Morgan Appearing In Invincible Long Before His Debut

Although Morgan's appearance as Conquest was a fun surprise, he had already been rumored to the show previously. Season 2 also had some major additions to the cast, with Sterling K. Brown, Ben Schwartz, Clancy Brown, and Ella Purnell all being confirmed for the series, but fans heavily suspected Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be among the additions. The actor made an Instagram post in January 2023 posing with some Invincible comics, which fueled speculation, and given Robert Kirkman wrote and produced both The Walking Dead and Invincible, it seemed inevitable that Morgan would the superhero show.

Powerplex had a memorable debut in Invincible season 3, and the show's latest villain has a memorable voice that some fans might recognize.

Sadly, this wasn't the case, as all eight episodes ed by without Morgan making a single appearance, but this didn't kill all hope for him getting involved with the franchise. Jeffrey Dean Morgan's speculated Invincible casting suggested he'd play Conquest, and the fact that the character didn't feature in season 2 meant this scenario was still on the cards. Fortunately, season 3 made this dream a reality, making the agony around Morgan's season 2 absence worth it, and he will likely be a massive part of the story going forward, especially with the Viltrumite invasion on the horizon.

Having Jeffrey Dean Morgan voice Conquest was always going to be a big deal, but keeping his role a secret made it way better than I could've imagined. It's always fun looking out for certain voices after they've been announced, but given Invincible hadn't shared who would be playing Conquest, I was all the more curious to hear who would be playing him. Thankfully, the voice was instantly recognizable, and many Invincible fans got their wish, but the fact that Morgan's casting was also a genuine surprise despite the season 2 speculation made the reveal even more special.

Many fans assumed Jonathan Banks may have potentially been cast as Conquest, as his role was kept hidden despite being confirmed for season 3. Given he has the rough and grizzly sound needed for such a vicious villain, it felt like a strong fit, but the swerve of having him play Brit while Morgan plays Conquest worked out even better. It was a perfectly executed surprise that shows Invincible still has plenty of tricks up its sleeve, and knowing Morgan will be a major part of the series for the foreseeable future only adds to the excitement of season 4.
