Posing as a wealthy German heiress under the name Anna Delvey, the Russian-born con artist defrauded banks, hotels, and wealthy acquaintances in a four-year crime spree.
Sorokin was eventually convicted of multiple counts of attempted grand larceny in 2019, as well as on additional charges of larceny in the second degree and theft of services. The aforementioned cast of the Inventing Anna miniseries serves to elevate an already juicy tale of duplicity and scandal. Workaholics star and co-creator Anders Holm delivers a surprisingly serious turn as journalist Vivian Kent's husband, while the series' star Julia Garner thrives in a fully-committed performance as the eponymous Anna.

Now best known by her birth name Anna Sorokin, Delvey left a trail of unpaid hotel charges, fraudulent checks, and false wire transfers in her wake across New York City between 2013 and 2017. As seen in Inventing Anna, Delvey was able to steal an accumulated value of over $200,000 from several institutions by posing as a wealthy German heiress. Anna Delvey/Sorokin is played by the incomparable Julia Garner, who is best known for portraying Ruth Langmore in Netflix's Ozark, for which she won three Emmys. For her work in Inventing Anna, Garner landed another Emmy nomination.
Anna Chlumsky as Vivian Kent
A fictional character inspired by journalist Jessica Pressler, Vivian Kent doggedly pursues Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna before writing her unbelievable true story. Kent also juggles investigative journalism with a mid-stage pregnancy, which at times clashes with her desire to take down Delvey. Kent is played by Anna Chlumsky, who has held roles in the series Veep, Hannibal, and In the Loop but is most known for her role in My Girl when she was a child.

Loosely based on a celebrity trainer of the same name, Kacy Duke initially befriends Anna Delvey before becoming suspicious of her lavish lifestyle as the pair holiday together. Kacy Duke is played by Laverne Cox, who is best known for playing Sophia Burset on Orange Is the New Black and becoming the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy in an acting category.
