Infinity Nikki lets players interact with just about every critter that crosses Nikki's path, but one player has been stumped by a creature they just can't seem to be able to groom. The free-to-play adventure game was released only a few days ago and it's already winning hearts over with its stunning art and charming characters. The game follows Nikki as she adventures through Miraland, looking for magical outfits. Some special outfits give Nikki special powers and one of these is the ability to brush animals to get crafting materials.

One Infinity Nikki player, who goes by the name character dressed in the outfit that gives them the "animal grooming" power. Nikki is pictured walking toward the edge of the screen with a brush in hand, as an unaware real cat sits in front of the screen. The post is titled, "Guys I keep trying to groom this cat but it's not working." It seems that Nikki's animal-befriending powers do not affect the very unamused cat.

One of the main aspects of gameplay for Infinity Nikki is exploring the vast and beautiful world in which Nikki finds herself. There are many locations to uncover, puzzles to solve, and secrets to reveal in Miraland. Besides wandering around the world, Nikki is tasked with completing quests and creating many outfits and articles of clothing, and to do so, she needs crafting materials.

The way to get these materials is to forage around for plants and materials, but Nikki can also use one of her many special Miracle Outfits to collect even more necessary items. The animal grooming outfit is called Bye-Bye Dust and it's approach various animals and critters in the game. A successful approach leads to a very happy animal who now trusts Nikki and some crafting materials for the player. Unfortunately, it seems that Nikki's charm is completely powerless against the very real cat she's dealing with in the humorous Reddit image.

Instead of A Virtual Brushing, The Kitty Should Get Real Pats

As the cat hasn't run away from Nikki yet, it's still possible to get some pets in, one way or another. Some comments suggest trying again, giving suggestions, like this one from quilltips, who says "Have you tried sneaking up on it vewwwwy quietly?" Miss_Milk_Tea/Reddit adds that there's still hope for Nikki getting that grooming session in, as the cat "hasn't thrown itself off a roof yet to get away from you," alluding to in-game cats' tendencies to fling themselves off high structures in their panicked escape.

Even if Nikki fails to pet this cat, the comments request that the original poster of the image does so, instead. I also think the good kitty deserves a pet, for being such a perfect model for the photograph. As for Nikki, she'll just have to continue searching for other critters to interact with in Infinity Nikki.
