To solve the "Serpent's Chest" Mystery in Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, you need to get a special item called the Rebreather. This tool allows Indiana to breathe underwater, but it is extremely expensive compared to other items you can buy. Because of its price, you have to find a way to collect enough money to purchase the Rebreather before you're able to use it.

There are several different kinds of currency you can collect throughout your adventures. The Rebreather costs Bones, a rarer type of currency a lot more uncommon than Pounds or Euros that may help you buy items from various vendors. The more Mysteries and side quests in Indiana Jones & TGC you complete, the more collections of currency you'll build up as you progress the story.

Where To Find The Rebreather

Discover The Right Vendor

The Rebreather is found in Sukhothai Village, an area you can reach naturally through the game's story. Once you arrive at this location, search for a vendor named Tongdang. After a brief cutscene introducing you to the vendor, he offers the Rebreather for an expensive 798 Bones, which is supposedly at a very generous discount.

You might have enough Bones to purchase the Rebreather right away, especially if you have completed enough missions and side quests, or located different treasures throughout your adventures.

Those who find Tongdang may be able to sell useless items in their inventory to get enough Bones, but some players may still come up short. Tongdang has other useful items for sale, but you'll want to save as many Bones as you can until you can buy the Rebreather first.

How To Get Money In Sukhothai

Steal Some Money From Someone Else

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle stealing Voss' gold to purchase Rebreather

Anyone who doesn't have enough money for the Rebreather will begin an optional side quest called "Steal Voss' Gold." This local villain of Sukhothai has been terrorizing the Village, so no one would be disappointed if he were to lose all the gold they've stolen. Pursuing the Voss Fieldwork will get you more than enough Bones to buy the Rebreather, along with a few other items from Tongdang.

Do not worry about Tongdang selling the Rebreather to someone else, as the vendor holds it for Indiana after you express interest in it.

Completing this Fieldwork before main quests will allow you to accumulate money fast in any region you're in. To obtain Voss' gold, you need to travel to Voss' camp and find the safe where he keeps his money. This area is heavily guarded, so it may take some time to defeat or sneak past every enemy guarding the place.

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Review: Already A Priceless Artifact

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle valiantly attempts to recapture what makes the movies special, and like Indy himself, it usually lands on its feet.

Ironically, this is the same place where you will find the Serpent's Chest, so it's worth traveling to Voss' camp even if you had enough money to buy the Rebreather. The Serpent's Chest is tied to one of the biggest Mysteries in Indiana Jones & TGC, with some of the best rewards. To unlock the Serpent's Chest, you need to find three keys named:

  • The Ancient Vatican Key
  • The Ancient Gizeh Key
  • The Ancient Shanghai Key

When you have Voss' gold, simply return to Tongdang to buy the Rebreather, which can be used anytime you jump into bodies of water. From this point, new mechanics open up for exploring areas underwater, allowing you to find secrets you couldn't access normally. However, this isn't an invitation to be reckless, as you still have a limited air supply that simply has a higher maximum when using the Rebreather.

New enemies are also abundant underwater, including Indiana's greatest foes - snakes. Be careful to check for air pockets and swim fast when you need to avoid enemies to avoid taking too much damage while swimming with the Rebreather. Both of these tricks are crucial when you try to search for any Ancient Keys needed to open the Serpent's Chest.

You do not gain any clues to an Ancient Key's location when getting the Rebreather, so you need to explore different regions to find them. Some locations are only unlocked by progressing the main story, so don't forget to pursue the narrative from time to time. Once you get the Rebreather in Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, you'll have a lot more to do and far more areas to explore.
