New details suggest that Ubisoft may unleash Immortals Fenyx Rising's first DLC expansion, A New God, in the later part of this month. The title launched back in December across all platforms, offering a breath of fresh air to Ubisoft's open-world formula. Before the game hit stores shelves, however, the development team announced its post-launch content plans.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is set to receive an ongoing stream of free content, including community contests, vault challenges, daily and weekly quests, and cosmetic items. The crew at Ubisoft Quebec intends to make paid DLC available to players, as well. Such content will come in the form of three big expansions for Immortals Fenyx Rising. A New God counts as the first DLC expansion, followed by Myths of the Eastern Realm and The Lost Gods, all of are on track to offer either new settings, fresh gameplay options, or both.

Until now, there was hardly a word as to when Ubisoft would release the content in question. Twitter PlayStationSize has reportedly stumbled upon details that may offer a clearer picture, though. According to the , the Nintendo eShop's backend reveals that Immortals Fenyx Rising's A New God DLC may become available on January 21, 2021. The content's recent appearance in a Trophy list on PSNProfiles seems to further hint at its imminent release, since Trophy data usually goes live close to a project's launch. Still, it's worth noting that at the time of writing, Ubisoft has yet to corroborate this particular launch date detail. If a late January release is on the schedule, news on this front should surface fairly soon.

Despite being one of 2020's more intriguing game releases, Immortals Fenyx Rising didn't get off to that solid of a start. The open-world adventure received predominantly favorable reviews across the board. Yet, the title's failed to move the needle much in of sales. Hopefully, word-of-mouth and fresh content launches throughout this year will see the project pick up steam on the market.

Often described as a heathy mix of Breath of the Wild and Assassin's Creed's more recent outings, Immortals Fenyx Rising serves as a big departure from what players have come to expect of Ubisoft projects of late. Its charming art style and refined mechanics, which seem an offshoot of Ubisoft Quebec's work on AC Odyssey, have fans interested in a similar successor for AC Valhalla. Here's to hoping this experiment does get another chance to shine in a sequel.
