Immortal She-Hulk

Warning: contains spoilers for The Immortal She-Hulk #1.

Death can be a frightening concept for many, but up until now it hasn't scared trauma of dying that's getting to her, it's the feeling that lingers after she comes back... and what she's forgetting when she does.

In both the recent The Immortal Hulk series and The Immortal She-Hulk #1 one-shot, it's established that while Hulks can die, they're also able to automatically return to life. Unfortunately, that trait may now be in dangerous jeopardy due to a longtime foe and fellow gamma mutate. And if Jen doesn't what happened to her between death and waking, then she, her cousin Bruce, and many others may soon be in extreme peril. For she is the only one who knows the true secrets of what lies beyond death - even beyond hell.

Dying and coming back to life already seems traumatic enough, but multiply that by three and add memory loss to the mix, and it breeds a whole new recipe for trauma. Walters can't help but feel anxiety, confusion, and a general aching in her day-to-day life as a consequence of what she's been through. Who wouldn't be at least a little shaken up in her position? She confronted her colleagues, Wolverine and Thor, to see how they deal with it, but they were little to no help in calming her emotions. It's most likely due to the fact that it's not just the trauma gnawing at her, it's the aching feeling of something forgotten... something important.

The Place Below All

While she is not the only hero who has been to the Below Place, the place beneath hell, she is the only one who knows that the Leader has access to this terrible plane and is preparing to turn it to his advantage. The Leader reveals that he now controls the process by which his fellow gamma mutates - the Hulks - return to life, implying that should She-Hulk die again, he'll prevent her from returning. It's no wonder she finds herself so messed up, seemingly fearing death for the first time, and constantly struggling with the deep-rooted feeling that something is very, very wrong.

Something bad is coming. Something that could have dire consequences for the She-Hulk, the Hulk, and the world as they know it. Walters has pretty much all the information she needs to warn her colleagues and fight back against an enemy with plans spanning eons to come, but she can't access any of it. Every memory she has of the Below Place is repressed until she returns to it. All she can is that she can't afford to die again, and it's not sitting well with her. The Immortal She-Hulk is the only one who can save the day, but time seems to be running out, and if she can't find a way to access her repressed memories soon, it could lead to a disaster of universal proportions.
