Players can play as Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This guide will show players how they can do it. Calamity Ganon is the big baddie of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as players needed to go around the land and reawaken the Divine Beast to effectively challenge him. Although, a neat aspect about Breath of the Wild is that if players felt they were ready, they could head straight to Hyrule Castle and battle Calamity Ganon at any point in the story. This proved to be a challenge for even the most hardcore Zelda fans. Now, players can experience the origin of Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and even unlock him as a playable character. This guide will show how players can unlock him.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is here to pick up the narrative slack that was left behind from Breath of the Wild. While the original title focused more on exploration, the storytelling aspect was put to the side to properly establish the freedom available. Now, Age of Calamity allows players to get a better understanding of what happened in the past and a better look at each of the champions of Hyrule, all of which are playable characters. Considering it is a war, the Dynasty Warriors gameplay is a perfect fit to match the high octane energy of the battlefield. Here's how players can add Calamity Ganon to their roster of playable characters.
How To Unlock Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
There are a few things players will need to do before unlocking Calamity Ganon.
- Complete The Main Story: This includes all 20 story quests.
- Unlock Terrako: This is post-game content and player need to collect 50 Terrako Components throughout missions to unlock it.
- Reach Level 74: The player will need at least one character to reach level 74. This will likely be Link since he's needed in every mission.
Once this is done, a new challenge called "Versus Calamity Ganon" will appear. In this challenge, players will need to face Astor, Harbinger Ganon, and Calamity Ganon all within 12 minutes without healing. Once this is completed, Calamity Ganon will be unlocked as the final character in the game.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity shows a side of the Zelda franchise that is highly unrepresented. While the series does feature a story, only a few titles in the series ever continue it between entries. Breath of the Wild will be a trilogy with the sequel releasing some time in the future. There is so much to explore with this take of Hyrule so it's nice to see Nintendo exploring more narrative with their Zelda titles.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is available now on Nintendo Switch.
