While exploring the farthest and most wacky reaches of the cosmos in High on Life, players may find that the talking weapons in their arsenal simply chatter too much for their liking. As a result, players will be accompanied by an ever-growing arsenal of chatterboxes from the start of the game. While undoubtedly humorous, at least, to begin with, some players may soon find their patience wearing thin. Luckily, High on Life’s developers at Squanch Games have anticipated this scenario, introducing settings tweaks that allow players to tell their ever-present companions to pipe down.
High on Life has hit Xbox Game , taking players on a journey across the galaxy to save humanity. Players take on the role of a suburban kid turned bounty hunter, tasked with rescuing living weapons to take the battle to aliens hell-bent on turning humans into drugs. Each weapon has its unique personality and is fully voiced, offering helpful combat advice as well as an endless stream of jokes, wisecracks, and comments. However, for players who’d like to go through High on Life without listening to the constant commentary, a simple settings tweak can set things right.
How To Mute Guns In High On Life
Under High on Life’s settings menu, players can navigate to audio settings and then tweak the Gun Chatter setting. For players looking to experience this comic sci-fi adventure story without too much input from their ever-present companions, this is ideal. By default, Gun Chatter is set to the Frequent setting, meaning players’ guns will talk almost constantly. Players can adjust Gun Chatter down to Occasional, allowing their talking pistol Kenny and his fellow weapons to offer the occasional comment without interrupting the experience.
This might be the sweet spot for most players, as much of the game’s Rick and Morty-style comedy arguably comes from Kenny and the other guns. However, players who’ve grown tired of listening to their companions as they blast their way through packs of enemy aliens can set Gun Chatter to None. This might make progressing through High on Life’s wild adventure trickier, as guns can point out secret routes and assist players in combat, but it might be worth it for anyone who finds their conversation grating.
Even with this setting, Kenny will still speak at critical moments when his input is needed to help players understand what’s happening around them. It’s a tricky balance to get right, particularly given that High on Life’s sense of humor is an acquired taste. But at the very least, a mute button does exist for anyone who’d like to opt-out of listening to it.
