Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games of all time, and has been almost universally praised by critics. There is currently no official launch date given for the PC port.
The response to Horizon: Zero Dawn has been extremely positive and fans have continued to want more from the game. Developer Guerilla Games has remained relatively quiet for the last few years as players have awaited some new announcement. Last November it seemed as though Guerilla Games posted a job listing for a Technical Vegetation Artist to work in the environments of Horizon: Zero Dawn. There has been no official announcement of a sequel, but rumors have led many to believe that it is in development.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, players will be getting a port of Horizon: Zero Dawn to the PC instead of a sequel right now. This is one of the few times that a PlayStation title has been ported to the PC. It does mean that the game will now have the ability of working with much more powerful hardware, and will most likely wind up looking even more impressive that it already did. This will also allow s who don't own PS4's to get immersed in the world of Horizon: Zero Dawn and according to PlayStation's Worldwide Studios President Hermen Hulst, "show people maybe what they've been missing out on".
Sony wanted to reiterate that this does not mean that other PlayStation titles will be getting the same treatment. While other games could potentially get a port to the PC, the company currently has no plans to do so at this time. Sony wants to remain dedicated to putting the PS4 and PS5 first, instead of focusing on the PC. While some may find this irable, Sony's competitor Microsoft releases almost all of its games on the PC and has even allowed some games to release on the Nintendo Switch.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the few new IPs that stood out from the crowd last decade. In an industry plagued by remakes, reboots, and sequels Horizon: Zero Dawn managed to take the world by storm with its intriguing storyline and fascinating female lead. After three years, hopefully Horizon: Zero Dawn performs just as well on the PC.
Horizon: Zero Dawn will release on the PC sometime this summer.
