Horizon Forbidden West's much anticipated post-game expansion DLC Burning Shores is available for pre-order now, exclusively for the PlayStation 5, and pre-order bonuses have been revealed. Though not much information has been given yet as to what the story for Burning Shores will entail, it has been revealed that Aloy will be traveling to an area that formerly was Los Angeles. The DLC picks up immediately following the events in Horizon Forbidden West, introducing the new area along with characters to encounter.

The expansion, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, was announced during The Game Awards 2022 and is expected to be released on April 19, 2023. Unlike the base game which was available for both the PS4 and PS5 consoles, this DLC is exclusive to the PS5 version of the game due to how limited developers were finding the PS4's capabilities to be with what they wanted to create. Burning Shores is available for pre-order now on the PlayStation Store.

All The Pre-Order Bonuses For Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores

Players who pre-order Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC on the PlayStation Store will get two free in-game items:

  • The Blacktide Dye Outfit, which will be available at the first dye merchant
  • The Blacktide Sharpshot Bow, from the first merchant in the Burning Shores.

These will both be accessible fairly early in the expansion, which will allow players to enjoy using both during their playthrough. The pre-order bonuses will be automatically ed as soon as Burning Shores goes live.

Burning Shores DLC Will Cost $20 & Picks Up Where Horizon Forbidden West Ended

Whether pre-ordered or purchased after launch, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC will cost players $19.99 (before any applicable taxes). As this is a post-game expansion, it will pick up the story from where the base game ends, meaning players will have to beat Horizon Forbidden West before being able to access any new content. One criterion for playing the DLC appears to be flying machines for Aloy to ride, which are unlocked fairly late in Forbidden West. Once the final mission of the game has finished, Aloy will receive a call on her Focus that starts the new expansion questline.

Continuing Aloy's story will take her south into the ruins that once were Los Angeles where violent seismic activity has created a dangerous landscape with new machines and a whole new storyline for Aloy to experience. With the pre-order bonus outfit and bow, Aloy can traverse these untamed wilds in style. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores will launch on April 19, 2023.
