To fully unlock the character’s potential, you will need to farm several materials for Fu Xuan in Honkai: Star Rail. With these items, you will be able to ascend her and take her to level 80, as well as increase the level of her Traces, which will then allow her to perform better. Fu Xuan is a 5-star character introduced as playable with Version 1.3. She was, however, originally introduced as an NPC during the Xianzhou Luofu story arc, as the Master Diviner of the flagship’s Divination Commission. She is the one responsible for setting the course of the Luofu and is capable of operating the Matrix of Prescience.
Fu Xuan is a Quantum character that follows the Path of the Preservation. Instead of granting shields to party , like Gepard, she absorbs a portion of the damage taken by them, acting as a sort of sponge. She thrives on a large Max HP pool, as this not only affects her survivability but also the HP buff she applies to teammates. Fu Xuan is also capable of providing a CRIT Rate buff to allies, making her a fully-fledged in Honkai: Star Rail, even if her specialty is decreasing damage intake. To take advantage of this, however, you will need to farm several materials for her Ascension and Traces.
Ascension Materials To Farm For Fu Xuan In Honkai: Star Rail
The specific materials needed for Fu Xuan’s character Ascension in Honkai: Star Rail vary, as there are two different item families. The first items are Artifex’s Module and its evolved forms, Artifex’s Cogwheel, and Artifex’s Gyreheart, respectively. These items have been available in the game since launch. Although they can be acquired from the Embers Exchange store and as rewards for various activities in the game, the main source of farming is through Entranced Ingenium opponents. These include Illumination Dragonfish, Golden Cloud Toad, and Obedient Dracolion. For reference, these are the mechanical animal-like creatures found across the Xianzhou Luofu regional maps. You can also get Artifex items from Assignments.
You will need to farm a surplus of these items if you intend on fully leveling Fu Xuan. The character also requires the Artifex’s Module family of items for her Traces – in fact, more is needed to upgrade her skills than to level the character herself.
The second item needed for Fu Xuan’s Ascension is Nail Of The Ape. This Ascension material was only introduced in Version 1.3, so it could not be farmed prior to the Version’s release. Nail Of The Ape is an exclusive item dropped from the Stagnant Shadow: Shape of Abomination challenge. Because a large amount is required to the several Ascension thresholds and get Fu Xuan to level 80, you will need to face the featured Malefic Ape opponent in Honkai: Star Rail’s new Stagnant Shadow various times. This is not particularly hard to farm, but the daily cap on Trailblaze Power may extend the farming period for a while.
The table below lists all the resources required for Fu Xuan’s complete Ascension, divided by Ascension level. The information was shared by Genshin Lab ahead of the character’s release, so the exact amount of each item may be subject to slight changes. Nevertheless, the details about what is needed to farm is accurate.

In addition to these materials, you will also be required to invest a decent amount of Credits in order to fully Ascend and level Fu Xuan. To obtain this resource, you may be required to farm Calyx (Golden): Bud of Treasures in Honkai: Star Rail. Not too many Credits are required for her Ascension – nearly 11% of the total amount needed for all of her upgrades, including her Traces – but this resource can easily be depleted, especially if you are also investing in a character’s Traces.
Materials For Fu Xuan’s Traces (Abilities) In Honkai: Star Rail
The farming process for Fu Xuan’s Traces in Honkai: Star Rail is a much more time-consuming one. More types of resources are needed and more of each of them is also required. The first items to farm are Artifex’s Module, Artifex’s Cogwheel, and Artifex’s Gyreheart. A great amount of each will be used to fully level her abilities, so farming the aforementioned surplus is no understatement. The second group of items to farm are Endurance of Bronze and its evolved forms, Oath of Steel, and Safeguard of Amber, respectively.
This family of items is an exclusive Trace leveling material, which is also specific to Preservation characters, like Fu Xuan herself. They can be acquired from various sources, such as activities and the Embers Exchange store, but the main way of obtaining them in a satisfactory amount is by running multiple instances of Calyx (Crimson): Bud of Preservation. This challenge is located in Herta Space Station’s Supply Zone, so it can be farmed early on during the campaign. On the other hand, another item needed for Fu Xuan’s Traces is Regret of Infinite Ochema, and that can only be obtained by defeating the weekly boss Phantylia in Honkai: Star Rail.
This challenge can only be tackled after concluding several main story quests that lead to the solution of the Stellaron crisis on the Xianzhou Luofu. A fair number will be needed, so you may need to issue the challenge against Phantylia multiple times, and, considering the weekly limitation on boss fights, the farming process may take more than a few weeks. The table below lists all the necessary items to fully upgrade Fu Xuan’s Traces in Honkai: Star Rail, according to Genshin Lab. The information was shared ahead of the character’s release, so the final amount may vary slightly.
