After much speculation, the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration with Honkai Star Rail has been officially confirmed and now has a release date. The collab was revealed over a year ago, but developer HoYoverse hasn't shared any further details since then, leaving fans to speculate about the event's details and release date.

HoYoverse has leaked earlier this year, but this latest news confirms the event and its additions to the wildly popular space fantasy mobile game.

Archer Will Be Available For Free

The collaboration between the anime franchise and mobile title will be titled "Beautiful Dreams and the Holy Grail" and it will introduce Saber and Archer in the RPG as playable characters. Players who after the event begins will have a chance to pull the limited five-star characters Archer (Path of the Hunt, Quantum) and Saber (Path of the Destruction, Wind).

Saber's real name is Artoria Pendragon and Archer's is Emiya Shirou. The two are the dual protagonists of the popular anime Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, though they also show up throughout the series in various forms.

Both characters will appear as new banners, but the game will also be giving away a free copy of Archer during the special event, as was predicted by the leak. For a chance to pull Saber or Archer, players will need to use the in-game Star Rail . Although Honkai is giving away Archer, players who want to use him or Saber will want to draw multiples to be able to power them up to reach their ultimate potential.

Fate/stay night started as a visual novel developed by Type-Moon and released in 2004. The story followed Shirou Emiya, a mage or "Master," and his role in the Holy Grail War as he got close to warriors, or "Servants," who represent legendary characters from throughout history (Saber, for instance, represents King Arthur).

Since then, the characters have appeared in over a dozen games and seven anime. Every interaction of the story places the central characters into alternate versions of their story, giving the franchise unlimited paths it can take, thanks to alternate realities.

This makes Fate/stay night a perfect franchise to pull from for collaborations, since it's not out of the question for alternate versions of Archer and Saber to show up in the outer-space setting of the mobile RPG. The Fate collaboration arrives in Honkai Star Rail on July 11, making the two Fate characters available as banner gacha characters.
