A new Relic set from Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 has leaked, and based on the information about its bonuses, I’m convinced the gear will be Phainon’s BiS (best-in-slot) once he is released as a playable character. The turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is currently going through Version 3.2, a huge patch that not only brings new Amphoreus-related content for players to delve into but also anniversary celebration events, many of which offer extra rewards. These rewards include an extra sum of Stellar Jade, as well as additional Star Rail Special es and other materials, including a free 4-star Light Cone.

Many of these extra rewards will help players save up Stellar Jade and Star Rail Special es to pull for Castorice or Anaxa in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2, the two new 5-star characters who are being added to the game with the patch. However, the Version 3.3 beta tests are already underway, and with them, several leaks about its contents are starting to emerge. The highlights so far have been the gameplay kits for Hyacine and Cipher, confirmed to be the 5-star unit additions, but some leaks from the beta tests are looking elsewhere, like the Memory of Chaos.

New Relic Sets Have Leaked For Honkai: Star Rail 3.3

One Set May Serve Hyacine

According to information provided by the leaker known as Dim, two new Relic sets will be introduced with Version 3.3. The leak was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit. The first leaked set is called Warrior Goddess of Daythunder. Its two-piece effect grants a 6% SPD buff. With four pieces, when the and their memosprite provide healing to allies aside from themselves, the gains Gentle Rain, up to once per turn, lasting for two turns. When the wearer has Gentle Rain, their SPD increases by 6%, and all allies’ CRIT DMG is boosted by 15%.

If the leaks about Hyacine’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 are accurate, Warrior Goddess of Daythunder should be her BiS Relic set since she is rumored to be a healer.

The second leaked Relic set from Version 3.3 is called Captain Over Cursed Waves. Its two-piece bonus allegedly boosts CRIT DMG by 16%. With its four-piece bonus, when the is the target of another ally’s Skill, they gain one stack of Assist, up to three stacks. When using Ultimate, the consumes all Assist, with each stack increasing their ATK by 16% until the end of the turn. This means that the ATK bonus only really affects the ATK when using the Ultimate, per se, and doesn’t extend to other abilities in the character’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail.

Leaked Relic Set In Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 May Become Phainon's Best-In-Slot

The Character May Be A Hypercarry DPS In Version 3.4 & Onward

Honkai Star Rail's Phainon gently smiles.

Based on the leaked Relic set’s effects, I suspect that Captain Over Cursed Waves will be the BiS for Phainon once he is released. There have already been a few leaks about Phainon, including rumors about his potential release in Version 3.4, so a new DPS-centered Relic set like this one could serve him. If this is the case, then it’s also likely that the main source of Phainon’s damage output will stem from his Ultimate rather than his Basic Attack or Skill, for example. Based on his profile, Phainon’s role in Honkai: Star Rail is that of a DPS.

Details about the character banner structure for Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 have allegedly leaked, and aside from new units, there may be valuable reruns.

Furthermore, if Captain Over Cursed Waves truly is Phainon’s BiS Relic set, he may be a hypercarry DPS. The two-piece bonus allegedly provides a valuable CRIT DMG buff, but the secret lies with the four-piece bonus. If the Relic’s is targeted by three of his allies’ Skills, they can gain up to 48% ATK. This comes on top of any other bonuses that the characters’ Skill may also provide, for example. As such, players may be able to hold back on increasing ATK too much while building the character and focus more on CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG.

This could also come with some downsides, however. A healer may have to target Phainon in a moment when he doesn’t need healing only to trigger the rumored Assist stack. If this doesn’t happen, players may end up sacrificing a 16% ATK buff. Additionally, not all sustain characters in Honkai: Star Rail will have synergy with this Relic set. The leaks about Hyacine’s kit, for example, indicate she summons her memosprite and heals all allies with her Skill, but the leaked wording doesn’t include a “target ally,” which could mean she may not help Phainon trigger Assist.

Honkai Star Rail 3.3 Leaks: New Free Character Event Can Significantly Help F2P Players

Players may get a free 4-star character during a Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 event, and the selection of units is fantastic compared to previous iterations.

Furthermore, if all allies need to use their Skill (possibly with the exception of Phainon) this will be a Skill point-hungry team. Players may be forced to use Sparkle to ensure that the team has enough resources with which to work. Hanya is often an alternative to Sparkle for Skill point management, but the 4-star’s Skill doesn’t target an ally, which would make her incompatible with the leaked Relics. Building a team around a DPS with the Relic set may require some extra thought, but it may add a new layer of strategic planning for hypercarry teams.

Other Hypercarry DPS Characters Could Use Honkai: Star Rail 3.3's Leaked Relics

The Relic Set May Also Serve Cipher

While the Captain Over Cursed Waves seems like a set that has been released in anticipation of Phainon, it could serve other hypercarry DPS units. One of the possible choices is Cipher. According to Cipher’s leaked kit in Honkai: Star Rail 3.3, she will deal a large load of damage with her Ultimate and then deal True DMG, which would also benefit from the ATK bonus provided by the leaked Relic set’s four-piece bonus because it would seemingly still occur during the same turn. Even some older hypercarry DPS characters could benefit from this set.

For now, the best team to run alongside a DPS with the leaked Captain Over Cursed Waves Relic set may be composed of Luocha, Sparkle, and Sunday in Honkai: Star Rail.

Characters like Dan Heng - Imbibitor Lunae and Jing Yuan could also take advantage of the ATK bonuses. While Imbibitor Lunae’s and Jing Yuan’s main gimmicks are their Enhanced Basic Attacks and Talent, respectively, they also deal a lot of damage through their Ultimate, and having that enhanced by the leaked Relic set and their units could make them even more powerful. Captain Over Cursed Waves may not be their BiS, but it could work with them.

These leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as they may be inaccurate, incomplete, or subject to change. Even so, these leaks seem to match character releases’ kits, such as Hyacine and Cipher in Version 3.3, so they do hold some reliability. As the game gets closer to Version 3.3, more Version 3.4 leaks should emerge, and it’s likely that more concrete information about Phainon in Honkai: Star Rail will start being shared.
