The trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been removed from the Steam store, potentially making room for a new trailer coming soon. Silksong has been in the works for over six years with very few updates from developer Team Cherry. The followup to the extremely popular Hollow Knight is one of the most highly ancitipated games in years, so the removal of the trailer may be good news for eagerly waitinng fans.

The Silksong trailer was removed from the game's Steam, page sometime yesterday, potentially paving the way for a new trailer to replace it shortly. The trailer dated back to the original announcement of Silksong, which was made in 2019. The six-year-old trailer was likely extremely outdated by now, so the removal of the trailer may point to a new trailer coming soon.

Hollow Knight: Silksong's extended development cycle might be the inevitable conclusion of Team Cherry's approach, for better or worse.

After a brief period of media activity around 2019, Team Cherry stopped sharing frequent updates and went quiet on Silksong's status, causing many fans to fear that the title had been abandoned. However, after years of no updates, the game was once again revived from being dormant when one of the creators of Hollow Knight teased the game's return with a profile picture of a chocolate cake that sent the community into a frenzy.

A little while later, fans were rewarded for their patience when Hollow Knight: Silksong was revealed to be coming sometime in 2025 speculate about release dates from cryptic tweets and hope that the game is, in fact, coming this year. Removing the trailer from the Steam page may be the next step toward announcing when Silksong will arrive on PC and consoles.

As the release of Silksong nears, the community has taken to Reddit and Discord to express their excitement. Amid "Silkposts" (i.e. fake news and memes), some potentially solid predictions have cropped up. Some fans, like HanLeas, point out that the previous trailer six years ago was released on Valentine's Day, then removed on Good Friday this year. Taking this into consideration, HanLeas (and several others on the Reddit Silksong community) believe that the game will get a new trailer and release date reveal on Easter Sunday.

Of course, all speculations are just educated guesses at this point, and no one but Team Cherry knows when Hollow Knight: Silksong will arrive. One thing is for sure, though: The community will be waiting with bated breath until then.
