Team Cherry has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be coming out on both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2. The followup to the massively popular Metroidvania, Hollow Knight, has been in the works since it was first announced in 2019. After six long years with very few updates from the developer, the anticipation for Silksong had reached a fever pitch.
Earlier this week Silksong is prepred to launch in 2025, though no release date has been shared yet. In an X post, Team Cherry's marketing lead Matthew Griffin, also known as "Leth," confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be coming to both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Confirmed For Several Platforms
The Title Won't Be A Switch 2 Exclusive
The confirmation that Silksong will be coming out for the Nintendo Switch 2 seemed like it implied that it would only be available for the console. It now seems that this was not the case, and s of the current Switch will also be able to enjoy the challenging Metroidvania when it finally launches. Coming to the Switch consoles also doesn't mean that Team Cherry will be abandoning its other fans.
The title will still also be available for PC, PS4/5, and Xbox One/Series X|S when it finally arrives this year. In fact, Silksong will be an Xbox Game day-one launch, making it available for free to subscribers on the day it releases. In short, Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable on every current and next-gen console, making it accessible to every possible fan on every possible platform.
Will Hollow Knight: Silksong Really Release This Year?
Silksong Has Been Delayed Before
When Silksong was originally revealed in 2019, the game was only supposed to take a few years to complete. In fact, the title was originally confirmed to be coming to the Xbox Game in June 2023. However, a delay was announced in May of that year and the game never met its original release window.

After Being Burned Before, I'm Not Ready To Trust Hollow Knight: Silksong's Release Window Confirmation
Hollow Knight Silksong received a release window confirmation at the Nintendo Direct stream for the Switch 2, but I'm not ready to trust it.
Since then, Team Cherry has been very quiet about its progress in development, with updates few and far between, leaving most wishlisted game on Steam. This time around, it seems that Silksong is really ready to be released, and fans will be able to play it on any platform they wish when it finally does.
