The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal also brought a glimpse of Hollow Knight: Silksong confirmed for both Switch 1 and Switch 2, it's looking like a physical release may happen at launch this time.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been listed by Polish retailer RTV Euro AGD (text in Polish), and the posting contains what appears to be a Switch 2 physical version of the game (via TheGamer). The post has a release date of 2025 and includes some in-game screenshots. Notably, only the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game is posted on the retailer's website right now, despite the game coming to both Switch platforms, along with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, and PC.
Silksong Having A Physical Release At Launch Could Be Big
An Indie Game That Exploded In Popularity
The original Hollow Knight was a massive hit when it was released back in 2017, with particular praise to its Metroidvania gameplay and its challenging bosses, becoming a popular game to stream and watch. The game was partially funded by a Kickstarter campaign, raising more than $57,000 for its development. With the first game only out on PC initially, and then on Switch before releasing on other consoles, Hollow Knight gained a lot of traction and even warranted a physical version to be released later in 2019.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Drops Updated Images & The Improvements Are Obvious
Team Cherry shares a range of updated screenshots of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and the amount of aesthetic upgrades is instantly noticeable.
Even with Silksong coming to Game on day one and the game being available digitally, the huge demand for the sequel is possibly allowing Silksong to be released to as many people in as many formats as possible.
Our Take: There Is Still Demand For Physical Releases
Games Being Available In Different Formats Is Always A Positive Thing
There is a lot of debate about physical media versus digital media nowadays. Over 70% of game sales are now digital, but having the option of physical or digital is always better than not having the gane at all. Recent games, such as Alan Wake 2, arguably suffered from not having a physical release at launch. With concerns over the way the Nintendo Switch 2 is handling physical media, the debate has gotten even hotter, especially with Switch 2 physical games estimated to cost more in several European countries.
Luckily, while this doesn't completely confirm a physical release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, it's looking more likely. Hopefully, fans of both physical and digital media will be satisfied when Hollow Knight: Silksong releases later this year.
