As fans continue to wait for any kind of official update on Hollow Knight: Silksong, the community is coming together to celebrate a fantastic Hornet cosplay that's keeping the excitement alive. While she may have played a small but crucial role in the original Hollow Knight, the elegant bug is stepping into the spotlight for the sequel, wielding her needle and thread with deadly efficiency. Players still have no idea when to expect Silksong, but that's not stopping them from getting into character and showing off some impressive cosplay skills.

Posted to Reddit by bnuii, the Hollow Knight fan showcased their elaborate Hornet cosplay and the results are fantastic.

Perfectly replicating Hornet's signature headpiece, the cosplayer poses as the character in a moody wood, allowing their painstakingly crafted Needle to really stand out amongst the trees. The tiny details are what's most impressive about the build, including the insect pin on the top of the collar and what appears to be a painted insignia on the hilt of the needle; the image itself appears to be of Herrah the Beast, one of the Dreamers in the original Hollow Knight.

Should Fans Be Worried About Silksong?

Will The Hollow Knight Sequel Ever Release?

Beginning as an expansion for Hollow Knight, Silksong grew so massive the developer Team Cherry opted to build upon it even further and turn it into a full-blown sequel. While that announcement was enough to excite fans, it's been years since any kind of update on the game has seen the light of day: The last footage was shown off during an Xbox Showcase event in 2022. Since a release date and still yet to be nailed down, some players are concerned that Silksong could never arrive. As ominous as that sounds, the reality is much more believable.

The simple fact is that Team Cherry is a very small team of creators and the scale of the project is likely taking the group much longer than anticipated. Given the fact that they've already confirmed that the Hollow Knight sequel will be even larger than the first game, it stands to reason that the production would take longer. Silksong will debut when it's finished and in the meantime, players will just need to build fantastic cosplays like bnuii to get them through long.

As for what Team Cherry has confirmed about Hollow Knight: Silksong, the studio has noted that while the game feel may be familiar, many of the mechanics have been modified to better suit Hornet's playstyle. While the Knight was already fairly fast and zippy, Hornet will be even more so, using her needle and thread as both a weapon and a means of traversal. Team Cherry has stated that the sequel will feature 165 new enemies and over 100 different checkpoints in comparison to the first game's 41.
