Hogwarts Legacy for the Nintendo Switch has been delayed even further, and its new timing may severely hinder its chances of selling well. While the magical RPG has seen great success since its release, that pattern likely won't continue for its last port. The Switch version of the game was always at a disadvantage by being slated to release after its console and PC peers, and by the time it comes out this fall the fad may very well have ed entirely.

While the game first released for current-generation consoles and PC in February, Nintendo Switch s were originally going to have to wait until July to journey to the beloved wizarding institution. Now, Hogwarts Legacy's Nintendo Switch release is scheduled for November 14 this year, over three months later than fans had been anticipating. This change isn't just a disappointment for players that had been waiting to purchase the title for the Switch - it also puts the very success of the game jeopardy.

Why A November Release For Hogwarts Legacy Is Too Late

Although there are some players who only own a Nintendo Switch, a large portion own at least one other gaming device that could play Hogwarts Legacy. While holding out for the Nintendo Switch version in order to utilize the console's portability seemed worthwhile with a July release date, now that it's shifted to the fall it doesn't make much sense to continue waiting, particularly for those who are highly anticipating getting their hands on the game. Considering the Switch is the least powerful of the current-day consoles, Hogwarts Legacy's potential lackluster performance on the device combined with the delay just isn't worth it.

Fall Brings Better Options Than Hogwarts Legacy Switch

By the time November rolls around, there will have been several big game releases like Starfield and Final Fantasy 16 that will further draw attention away from Hogwarts Legacy. For fans who are still interested in starting a wizarding journey, the $70 price tag of the new Nintendo Switch port will seem incredibly steep next to the existing versions of the title. Across the several months between now and Hogwarts Legacy Switch, the other releases will have almost certainly been discounted at least once, especially with November bringing Black Friday sales.

Between a star-studded line-up of game releases and the existing ports for every other platform, Hogwarts Legacy for the Switch just doesn't seem worth waiting for, especially considering it will have both reduced performance and a higher price. The game has proven to be incredibly popular with fans and critics alike, but the hype surrounding even the biggest releases is bound to die down eventually. By November, it will be too late for Hogwarts Legacy's Nintendo Switch release to hold any real value for most players.
