Maximilian "Max" Dennison actor Omri Katz discussed his character's possible return in Hocus Pocus 3. The original 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus centered on the Sanderson Sisters, a trio of mischievous witches portrayed by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker. After Max (Katz), his little sister Dani (Thora Birch), and Max's classmate Allison Watts (Shaw) accidentally summon the Sanderson Sisters from a three-century banishment, the children must race against time to vanquish the witches before they steal Dani's life force. Although Midler, Najimy, and Parker returned for 2022's sequel, Katz was notably absent from the cast, with the story focusing on a new group of young characters.
On the heels of Hocus Pocus 3's announcement, Katz spoke to EW and addressed Max's possible return to Disney's Halloween franchise after missing out on the sequel. The actor expressed his enthusiasm for the sequel and itted he would reprise his role if asked. Read what Katz said below:
"I'm excited for the new film! Glad to see this franchise gain its popularity 30 years later."
"Yes, I would return if Disney approached me. It would be an honor to return, hopefully with some of my fellow castmates, and make a fun addition to the franchise!"
Hocus Pocus 3's Story Is Hazy Given Hocus Pocus 2's Ending
Walt Disney Pictures President Sean Bailey announced Hocus Pocus 3 was in development. With the project in early development, no details regarding the plot, cast, or crew have been revealed. With a story likely in the process of being written, future casting announcements will have to wait until the screenplay is complete.
With little-to-no details regarding Hocus Pocus 3, there have been speculations about the film's possible narrative. Hocus Pocus 2 concluded with Winifred inadvertently erasing her sisters using the Magicae Maxima spell. Although the new young coven could not bring Mary and Sarah back, they cast a spell to reunite the trio, turning Winifred to dust to them. The film's ending appears to be a relatively definitive conclusion for the group, but the appearance of an ominous crow teases the return of another more powerful foe.
Hocus Pocus 2 began with a flashback, showing the beginning of the Sanderson Sisters' introduction to witchcraft from Mother Witch (Hannah Waddingham). Transforming from the crow into her human form, she gives the sisters the Book after sensing Winifred's power. If Mother Witch is to be the chief antagonist in the sequel, the new heroes of Salem will need all the help they can get to defeat the powerful sorceress. With Hocus Pocus 3 likely years away, it will take time to determine if any of the original cast will return to save Salem.
