Now, less than a month after it was released in theaters, the movie's digital release date has been revealed. As announced by Sony, Here will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms starting on November 26, followed by Blu-ray and DVD on January 21. The special features and extras included on the Blu-ray, DVD, and digital release include the documentary, "How We Got Here (The Making of HERE)," and deleted scenes.

Here was highly anticipated as a reunion for Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and director Robert Zemeckis, who all collaborated on Forrest Gump in 1994, which was the highest-grossing movie in the United States that year, earning over $678 million worldwide, and won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Hanks, Best Director for Zemeckis, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Eric Roth. Here not only represented a reunion for Hanks and Wright, and Zemeckis, but also Eric Roth, cinematographer Don Burgess, and composer Alan Silvestri.

Since Here represented a reunion of multiple collaborators behind the massively successful Forrest Gump, there were some lofty expectations surrounding it. However, Here has largely failed to live up to those expectations, with Here's reviews praising director Robert Zemeckis for revisiting humanistic storytelling, but criticizing its theatrical presentation and excessive spectacle which diminish its emotional impact, resulting in a 35% Rotten Tomatoes score. Here also bombed at the box office, grossing only $13 million against its $45–50 million budget.

The Ambitious Project Deserves To Be Seen

Though Here was panned by critics and bombed at the box office, its release on digital platforms will provide it with a chance to be introduced to an entirely new audience who didn't see it in theaters and might appreciate aspects of the ambitious project. Not only is the camera set in a fixed position, but the film unfolds in a non-linear fashion and often employs a split-screen technique to present scenes from various periods simultaneously.

Additionally, a groundbreaking new generative AI technology called Metaphysic Live was used to de-age the actors in real-time during filming, as opposed to post-production. While Here may have been a disappointment overall, it's still an ambitious project that deserves to be seen.
