The arrival and popularity of MCU once again, including the post-credits scene. Falling in line with the debut of Russell Crowe as Zeus, the film introduced another pivotal god to the franchise and fans are eager to know more about him.

That was the first appearance of Hercules, played by Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein, and he is seemingly set to oppose superheroes at some point in the future. That makes it worth taking a look at the powerful opponents Hercules has defeated in comics.

Hulk

In Marvel’s 2008 comic Hulk vs. Hercules: When Titans Collide, fans got to see a brief fight between Hulk and Hercules and it definitely lived up to expectations as they both used huge colosseum columns to smash one another.

Hercules ended up knocking down the green beast and seemingly won the fight until Ares attacked both of them causing them to team up. Many fans agree that Hercules won this bout against the Hulk and it stands out as one of his best victories in comics.

Typhon

Typhon may not be one of the most well-known villains in Marvel but he managed to become a big enough threat that it would take a Hercules-led Avengers team to take the Titan down.

As he is one of Hercules' main antagonists, Typhon was able to match Hercules' strength and was almost able to wipe out the Gods of Olympus, but Hercules was eventually able to land a decisive blow against Typhon.

Quicksilver

Many superhero fans argue that speedsters are much too powerful to ever lose fights but this is exactly what happened to Quicksilver when he fought Hercules in a battle with his sister Scarlet Witch against Hercules and Enchantress, another character fans want in the MCU.

Hercules was shown to have the reflexes to keep up with Quicksilver and ended up using steel cables to trip up the speedster. This is one of Hercules' most impressive victories as it showed that he could be creative and adaptable in battle.

Iron Man

Hercules fights Iron Man in the comics

Iron Man and Hercules had an interesting fight in The Classic Avengers: 163 when a Typhon-manipulated Tony Stark took on Hercules and Black Widow.

The fight saw Hercules use fire hydrants, cars, and light posts to get the upper hand on Iron Man, the God of Strength would land a decisive blow to knock Tony down for the count. The victor of this fight is argued by many fans as an unable to move Iron Man was able to electrocute a distracted Hercules, but Hercules’ brief victory lets fans know who truly won the fight.

Spider-Man

Although it would appear that these two characters have nothing to do with one another, Hercules and Spider-Man have fought on multiple occasions and Peter Parker has never been able to get the upper hand on the Prince of Power.

In their notable first encounter, Hercules is shown to have the speed and reflexes to match Spider-Man’s spider-sense which leaves Spider-Man’s attacks pretty ineffective and allows Hercules to easily overpower him.

The Destroyer

MCU fans have gotten a small glimpse of The Destroyer in Thor (2011) but fans of the comics have seen the huge android-like being have the power to take on Celestials as it was infused with the power of Odin and Zeus.

In one of Thor and Hercules' many team-up adventures, Thor #224 saw the Destroyer become unintentionally awaken and cause Thor to ask Hercules for help in stopping the mystical being. Together they were able to defeat the Destroyer and made for one of their best and most memorable victories.

Deadpool

Hercules fights Deadpool in comics

In the very popular comic series Deadpool Team-Up, Hercules and Deadpool find themselves trapped in the Dream Dimension at the will of the Doctor Strange villain Nightmare. A fight between Hercules and Deadpool ensues at the beginning of the comic when Deadpool meets Hercules and does everything he can to take down the God of Strength.

From shooting Hercules in both of his eyes at point blank range and multiple attempts to stab his invulnerable skin, Deadpool’s attempts proved to be for naught as they had absolutely no effect on Hercules and he simply just threw Deadpool through a wall.

Thor

As Hercules and Thor are two of the most physically powerful characters in all of Marvel, it only makes sense that they have a long history with one another.

In one of their earliest encounters way back in 1966’s Thor #126, Hercules managed to overpower the God of Thunder and effectively subdue him. This is definitely worth noting today as a matchup between the Prince of Power and the God of Thunder is sure to be on the way in the MCU.

Sentry

Hercules fights Sentry in comics

As he is basically a Marvel version of Superman, Sentry is one of Marvel's most overpowered heroes but even he has fallen subject to Hercules' overwhelming strength. Despite being played off like a joke at times, the fight between them turned in Hercules' favor when he used the Venom symbiote to land hefty blows against Sentry.

Many fans dismiss this fight as they believe the writers did Sentry dirty on this one, but nonetheless this is one of the strongest opponents Hercules has ever defeated.

Chaos King

Hercules fights Chaos King in Marvel's Chaos War

Existing as a dark counterpart to Eternity, the Chaos King almost destroyed the entire Universe after taking out most of the gods and enslaving the others to take down beings such as Galactus and trapping almost all of Earth’s heroes in their dreams.

Despite Chaos King’s seemingly limitless power, Hercules became embedded with the powers of the Skyfather as the new God of Olympus and was able to match the Chaos King in battle.
