Henry Cavill might be coming back to Justice League, and his future in the DCEU has been a mystery ever since.

After the critical and financial failure of Justice League, the DCEU made some changes, giving some characters their own adventures (as is the case of Harley Quinn in Man of Steel 2 would ever happen or if the character was going to be given a fresh start, as happened with Ben Affleck’s Batman.

DCEU fans recently got an update on Cavill’s future, as Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, or The Batman. It’s unknown why and what his role in the DCEU would be then, but Cavill has nothing to worry about, as he also has The Witcher, which is a much better project for him.

Why Henry Cavill Is Better Off With The Witcher Than Superman

The Witcher Season 1 Ending Geralt looking shocked

Henry Cavill’s time as Superman hasn’t been easy, but the problems of the DCEU’s version of Superman are not his fault. The stories in every one of his appearances weren't the best, and were either oversaturated or fell into nonsense, which inevitably affected his performance. The DCEU’s interpretation of Superman (and Batman, as well) didn’t appeal to fans either, and the studio’s insistence in creating a darker universe to differentiate itself from its competitor, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also contributed to a bad reception of Cavill’s version of the famous superhero.

Fortunately, Superman and its rough time at the DCEU didn’t stop Cavill from taking part in other projects, the most recent and successful one being Netflix’s The Witcher, where he plays his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia than his Superman, and even the author of the novels, Andrzej Sapkowski, approved of his performance.

Not only is The Witcher better received than the DCEU films with Cavill’s Superman, but it has a clearer and more stable future. In addition to that, Netflix’s The Witcher is the first English-language TV adaptation of the novels and it’s a new territory for many, as not everyone is familiar with the source material and the video games. Superman, on the other hand, has been adapted to different media for decades, so it’s a much more difficult ground to explore. Whatever the future holds for Henry Cavill’s time in the DCEU, he has The Witcher right next to him, offering a brighter future.
