If Not Another Season of Haunting, What Is Next For Mike Flanagan?
Hell House is a horror novel whose plot focuses on the lives of four distinct characters — a physicist, his wife, and two mediums. When the quartet is hired to explore the possibility of life after death, they find themselves at one of the most reportedly haunted houses in the world. With an eccentric cast of characters and a house-based plot, Hell House would have been ripe for a Haunting of Hill House-style adaptation.

Every Mike Flanagan Netflix Horror Ranked Worst To Best
Mike Flanagan has managed to reinvigorate the horror genre via a nuanced study of the human psyche. Here's every Netflix horror by Flanagan, ranked.
The Haunting of Hell House may not be in the cards for Flanagan, but the director does have another exciting film adaptation coming down the pike. Flanagan will helm The Life of Chuck, an adaptation of a Stephen King short story found in his anthology novella If It Bleeds. The Life of Chuck stars Kate Siegel, Matthew Lillard, Karen Gillan, and Tom Hiddleston.
The Life of Chuck will follow-up Flanagan’s last horror project: directing four episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher. Already, star The Life of Chuck will be a King adaptation with the kind of “warmth” of something like The Shawshank Redemption rather than a straight horror adaptation. This leaves a lot to be excited about as Flanagan enters the next stage of his career, even if that next step is not The Haunting of Hell House.
