After watching this season of Below Deck Down Under, I'm convinced that deckhand Harry Van Vliet is the real charmer of the boat, since he's managed to do his job while properly courting stew Brianna "Bri" Duffield. Other crew like Wihan du Toit and Johnny Arvanitis could take a lesson from Harry's smooth moves, as they've both struggled with women this season. Of course, everyone working on the motor yacht Katina on Below Deck Down Under season 3 is there to work, not fall in love, but still, "boat-mances" tend to happen on every season of Below Deck.
Harry's approach to Bri has been more subtle and much sweeter than any of the other men, and Bri even said that's the reason she likes Harry, as she had the chance to hook up with Wihan as well. Harry's also taken a leadership role as Wihan's struggled with his responsibilities. Wihan's inappropriate behavior with other women on the boat, coupled with him slacking on his professional duties, makes Harry the ideal candidate to step up and prove his capabilities this season, while also getting the girl.
Harry Landed Bri After Wihan Love Triangle
Harry And Bri Are Dating On The Show
In early episodes, Wihan set his sights on Bri, but Harry also fancied her. After bonding by helping her with cleaning the guest cabins, Harry made his move on her during a crew night out, planting a small kiss on her in front of everyone else. Even Bri seemed surprised, since Harry's nature is mild-mannered.
"I didn't know Harry had game," Bri exclaimed with a huge smile in a confessional after he kissed her. Wihan, meanwhile, said he didn't think a woman like Bri should be with someone like Harry. Harry's less aggressive approach worked with Bri, which probably wouldn't have happened if Wihan had his chance with her first.
As of the current episodes, Harry is still courting Bri, but she expressed that he wasn't moving fast enough. Harry got wind of her thoughts, and adjusted his technique, asking her out on dates and making his feelings clear. The way Harry is moving at a safe pace, and adjusting for Bri's comfort level, proves he actually has the most game.
Wihan Has Created Chaos With His Romantic Entanglements
Wihan Has His Own Issues With Women On The Crew
After Wihan lost his shot with Bri, he didn't have to look far for other romantic prospects. Harry had fleeting romances with Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph, stew Marina Marcondes de Barros, and deckhand Adair Werley. Wihan's messiness in flirting with (and kissing) multiple women caused drama and was a huge distraction for the crew.

In contrast to Bri and Harry's low-key, easy romance, Wihan's entanglements with women on the Below Deck Down Under have put some of the crew in uncomfortable positions. Wihan is more aggressive and thoughtlessly pursues women, while Harry took the time to get to know Bri before he tried making a move on her. Wihan may have noticed, since he tried bonding with Adair by helping her clean as well.
Johnny Made Alesia Uncomfortable
Johnny Struck Out On First Night With Alesia
Another crew member who could take some lessons in love from Harry is deckhand Johnny Arvanitis. The Greek-born Johnny was instantly smitten with new sous chef, Alesia Harris, after she came on board to replace Anthony Bird. On Alesia's first night out with the crew, Johnny tries to kiss her, but she politely pushes him aside.
Johnny goes on to tell her that she's awakening something inside of him that he's afraid of, which is a lot to it on your first time socializing with someone.
Alesia looked very uncomfortable with how forward Johnny was being with her, but she may have come around to him, since they continue to flirt in later episodes. Still, Johnny shouldn't have tried to move so fast with Alesia. He was too bold as she was new to the ship and had to deal with his advances.
Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
