Netflix's newest teen drama is a series about adventure, clashes between different classes of society, and a teenage boy whose father leaves him a legacy. No, it's not about Outer Banks.

A small island off the coast of North Carolina where everybody knows everybody and the division between the rich and the poor is glaringly obvious, OBX is home to John B and his search for a lost treasure. John B and his friends spend most of their time worried about finding gold and not getting caught, so they never claimed their own Hogwarts houses during the run of the first season. We've taken care of their sortings for them.

Pope: Hufflepuff

At first glance, Pope seems like a great candidate for Ravenclaw. He's often referenced as the smartest of the Pogues, and a lot of his high school life revolves around getting a scholarship to get him out of OBX.

While that's all true, a lot of that is the result of the pressure placed on him by his parents. Poe lives his life mostly doing what's best for those that care about him. He strives to please his parents - until the pressure is too much. Pope is always first in line to do what his friends want to do. Loyalty and friendship are clearly the most important thing to him. Even when he "steals" gas from his father to go help John B, he's in tears while walking away from his father.

Rafe: Slytherin

Rafe has a lot of loyalty, but only for very specific people - his family. Even then, he's willing to watch the town tear John B apart and hurt Sarah in the process if he can save his own skin, just like a Slytherin.

It's his ambition and his need to be the one still standing that rule Rafe. He craves his father's approval, but if his father's approval ends up sending him to jail, Rafe is probably going to search for a way out. It's clear when he disobeys his father to track down John B himself with the local drug dealer that by the end of the season, he's only out for himself.

Topper: Gryffindor

Topper does a lot of shady things on Outer Banks, but he does them out of his own misguided idea of what love is. He truly believes that he and Sarah are meant to be together, and he allows his emotions, especially concerning Sarah to rule him. That following of his emotions, and not stopping to think things through, is very Gryffindor of him.

Also very Gryffindor of him is his need to prove his love to Sarah by giving her and John B a path to escape the police. That's definitely a gutsy move on his part since most of the police were willing to shoot John B on sight, and Topper ended up wearing the other boy's clothes.

Peterkin: Ravenclaw

Of all the characters in Outer Banks, Sheriff Peterkin is the one person who always seems to successfully be putting the pieces of the mystery together. She's incredibly observant, and always searching for the truth.

As a result of character tropes, law enforcement officers in fiction often fall into Gryffindor or Slytherin houses. Peterkin, despite her bravery and her cunning, is definitely ruled by her search for answers. She always seems to know more than she's letting on, and she's always looking ahead to the next piece of a puzzle, just like a Ravenclaw would.

JJ: Hufflepuff

JJ has some Slytherin traits. He's sneaky, the best liar of his friends, and he definitely wants to be someone with money. JJ, however, is sneaky only when it means getting out of trouble, lies to protect his friends, and wants the money to be able to do nice things for the people he cares about. He's not a Slytherin.

Instead, as someone who takes the fall for Pope, who encourages his friends to pursue a girl he its he's interested in himself, and who steals from his abusive father to offer someone else an escape plan, he's a Hufflepuff. JJ is as loyal as they come.

Kie: Ravenclaw

Like her fellow Pogues, Kie seems like she would be a good fit for another house at first glance. Her unflinching loyalty to her friends could seem very Hufflepuff, but her loyalty only goes so far. She did, after all, call the police to break up a party she wasn't invited to because she was hurt.

Instead, Kie's mind is always working. She's a much better fit for Ravenclaw, as it is her plans that frequently get her friends out of trouble. Kie chooses to find a way to distract bullies at a movie, burning down the screen, instead of picking up a gun. She's the one her friends call to fix the motor on a boat. Kie is actually the brains of the operation more often than Pope is.

Sarah: Gryffindor

Sarah might not seem like the stereotypical Gryffindor, sulking in her room and walking away from confrontations with Topper more than once. She is, however, someone who follows her heart rather than her head, which is one of the strongest Gryffindor traits of all. It's what tended to get Harry Potter into so much trouble.

Sarah helps John B before she even really knows him when she could have easily walked away. She's in it for the adventure - and for the fact that she's falling for him. Sarah tries to out her father and brother's crimes to authorities and get justice. Ultimately, she leaves her family behind and chooses adventure with John B, following her heart.

Ward: Slytherin

When Rafe longs for his father's approval so much, and strives to make the same decisions he would make, is it any wonder Ward ends up sorted into the same house?

Ward's greed and ambition gets the best of him more than once. He kills John B's father in an argument over the gold. Ward likely kills multiple other people over the course of the series as well, though no one ever proves it. He allows Peterkin to succumb to her wounds in order to protect his family and frame John B. He's got chess moves on top of chess moves to play, always looking for a way to win the game.

Big John: Ravenclaw

Fans don't see much of Big John in the series, but his presence is felt everywhere. John B is so angry at his father when he leaves and doesn't come back, but he also seems to understand it. His father is a dreamer who loves his local history.

It's that love of history that sorts him into Ravenclaw. Without his father already tracking down many of the clues, John B never would have had a path to the gold.

John B: Gryffindor

The events of Outer Banks all swirl around John B. He's a regular teenager who seems to always end up with the short end of the stick. His father missing at sea and his uncle working in Mississippi means he's on his own, a fact that means he tries to escape the custody of the state multiple times so he doesn't end up in foster care.

John B is reckless and impulsive through his search for the missing gold. He's equally reckless in his pursuit of Sarah. Like Sarah, he follows his heart, doing what he thinks is right, even if that means he has to do a few bad things along the way.
