Other than Harry Potter, Hermione is one of the most influential and skilled people in the Harry Potter books. Hermione has always been loved by fans because she’s an extremely smart and powerful witch.
She’s also brave and heroic and goes through many things as she helps Harry and fights against Voldemort and his followers throughout the books. There are many moments where Hermione was really inspiring as well as times that the fans felt bad for her.
Inspiring: When she was committed to elf rights
Hermione is one of the few people in the wizarding world who sees that the way house-elves are treated and that they have no real legal rights, is really messed up. While she might be really young and misplaced in how she goes about her activism, she does have some good ideas and a good heart.
This shows the kind of person that Hermione is, and it’s very inspiring.
Felt Sorry: When she faced bigotry for being Muggle-born
In the wizarding world, there are many people who are prejudiced against Muggles and Muggle-borns. While some people take this to the extreme, like Voldemort and his followers, there are others that are more subtly prejudiced.
Hermione faces bigotry many times, especially from Draco and his friends, and it’s really upsetting when it happens.
Inspiring: Using the time turner to rescue Sirius and Buckbeak
Hermione is often inspiring because she is so intelligent and also very responsible. But, when it comes down to it, she will break rules when it means doing the right thing and saving lives.
She is quite brave in how she uses the time turner to rescue Sirius and Buckbeak and does a lot to make sure that happens without anyone getting caught.
Felt Sorry: Snape mocking her when she was hit by the spell that made her teeth grow
Snape treats most of his students horribly, especially if they aren’t in Slytherin. While he doesn’t treat Hermione as bad as Neville, there is one instance of bullying that was unacceptable.
When Hermione was hit by a spell from Draco, it caused her teeth to keep growing. But, instead of sending her to the hospital wing, Snape just mocks her appearance.
Inspiring: Coming up with the idea for Dumbledore’s Army
While Harry might be the one to teach the students in Dumbledore’s Army because he’s really good at Defense Against the Dark Arts, it was Hermione’s idea. She was the one to plan and organize everything, and she got everyone together.
She also came up with a way to communicate using coins and keep everything going. This just goes to show how important she is, and it’s very inspiring.
Felt Sorry: When Ron left her and Harry
When Ron leaves Hermione and Harry during the Horcrux hunt, it’s a devastating moment for both Hermione and Harry. But, seeing how close Hermione has always been to Ron and their budding romantic feelings, it’s a particularly rough blow for her.
She clearly suffers because of this, and his betrayal hurts her a lot.
Inspiring: Using her intellect to get Harry to the Sorcerer’s Stone
Hermione has so many inspiring moments where she is the smartest witch in her year at Hogwarts. She is amazing at her coursework and at magic, but the even more inspiring moments are when she uses her intelligence to do really brave things.
She was able to use logic to get Harry through to the Sorcerer’s Stone and seeing her use her skills like this was inspiring.
Felt Sorry: When she had to erase her parents’ memories
Hermione shows just how brave she is and how committed she is to defeat Voldemort when she erases her parents’ memories. It’s clearly a really hard thing for her to do, but she does so to keep them safe.
This is a big sacrifice for her as they don’t even who she is after the spell is done. It was definitely a tragic moment.
Inspiring: All of her planning and skill during the Horcrux hunt
Many fans have pointed out that if it wasn’t for Hermione that Harry wouldn’t have really gotten anywhere with finding the Horcruxes.
It was Hermione who had all of the logistics planned out such as being prepared at a moment’s notice and having a tent for them to live in. Without her, the trip would have been dead on arrival. It’s clear that Hermione is super valuable and inspiring.
Felt Sorry: Being tortured by Bellatrix
One of the most traumatic things that ever happened to Hermione is when she is tortured by Bellatrix at Malfoy Manor.
The Cruciatus Curse is used on her, and it’s a really horrible thing to happen to her and to the people who care about her who hear it. She definitely didn’t deserve this, and fans felt sorry for her at this moment.
