The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, with survivors resting up after Lord Voldemort's defeat.
However, with JK Rowling's books spanning pages and pages, not every Great Hall scene could make into the movies. In fact, there were quite a few that fans would have liked to see, including these 10...
Neville Being Sorted
The Sorcerer's Stone movie showed Harry and Ron both being sorted into Gryffindor. But it doesn't show what happens when the hat is placed on Neville Longbottom's head. So wracked with nerves, he runs off with it still on his head after being sorted into the same house.
Many at first may have been baffled by this given how Neville behaved, with the wizard being pushed around by Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle. Yet his transformation over the course of the series is remarkable and he becomes a vital asset by the end, Battle of Hogwarts.
Wizard Crackers
Hogwarts students can either go home for Christmas or stay at Hogwarts if they (or their parents) so wish. In The Sorcerer's Stone, Harry is fortunate when he finds out the Weasleys won't be going back to the Burrow and will instead be spending the festive period in the castle itself. This allows him to spend the day with his friends - and he gets his first taste of Christmas at the castle.
While Harry scoffs at the sheer amount of food the house-elves below serves up, he does seem to have a good time. He also enjoys playing with the wizard crackers for the first time. Unlike their muggle counterparts, these crackers let off a bang as loud as a cannon and also emits a huge cloud of smoke. They sound fun, but the noise must be pretty unbearable...
Valentine's Day
Hogwarts students awake on Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, has other ideas. Lockhart decides to throw a huge party to celebrate the event, with the Great Hall being kitted out in pink love hearts as a result.
As you'd expect, most students aren't too happy. Not least Ginny Weasley, who is left mortified when a singing dwarf hired for the occasion sings her Valentine's poem to Harry out loud for everybody else to hear. This would have been a funny scene to see play out but, alas, Warner Bros. had other ideas.
Christmas With 12
In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry, Ron, and Hermione stayed at Hogwarts during the Christmas holidays. Ron and Hermione most likely did this to keep Harry company, with the Boy Who Lived's festive period being somewhat tarnished by the threat of Sirius Black hanging over his head.
This year, there are just 12 students who opt to stay put - and they all assemble in the Great Hall. Albus Dumbledore enjoys himself, striking up conversations all over the place while Minerva McGonagall lets her hair down too. Professor Trelawney makes a belated appearance, making a right old drama out of things, and this is another one we feel should have been included in the movie version of the story. It would have provided some light relief in a dark story.
Dennis Creevey's Sorting
The Harry Potter movies show Colin Creevey, who mainly appeared in the Chamber of Secrets. But they don't show his brother, Dennis, who is just as erratic and amusing.
In the novel, Dennis is sorted into Gryffindor - after falling in the Hogwarts lake on his way to the castle. He's tiny, with Harry other students taken aback by his size. However, the fact that he isn't deterred from his little mishap speaks volumes. He claims he was nudged back onto the boat by the giant Squid and it's clear, with this attitude, the Sorting Hat definitely got this decision right.
Meeting Bill And Molly
Harry is thrown into the Triwizard Tournament against his will during the fourth book and movie. This means he's forced to go through tasks that are definitely above his level, with the Gryffindor student three years younger than other participants; Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour, and Viktor Krum. For the most part, he battles through the tournament with Ron and Hermione helping him (as well as Barty Crouch Jr, disguised as Alastor Moody).
But he gets a much-needed boost shortly before the third and final task when he meets Bill Weasley and Molly Weasley in the Great Hall. They offer him some words of encouragement, giving Harry the confidence to overcome the Triwizard Maze. What nobody knows, however, is that Lord Voldemort's got grander plans for the end of the tournament - with the Dark Lord setting up an epic confrontation in the graveyard of Little Hangleton.
Marauders Exams
Fans get to see a brief flashback sequence involving Severus Snape, Lily Potter, and the Marauders during their time at Hogwarts. Yet it's far more fleshed out in the source material. It actually begins with Harry getting a glimpse of them all sitting their O.W.L exams, all cutting contrasting figures on a hot summer's day.
Harry notes how relaxed James and Sirius look but ends up regretting his decision to look into Snape's memories. He can't believe his father and Lily get together due to how cocky James is and it's eventually left to Remus Lupin to put his mind at ease.
Dolores Umbridge And The Quibbler
Missing from the Daily Prophet trashing Harry, it's the only way for the Boy Who Lived to get his message across. This, of course, enrages Dolores Umbridge.

She bans the publication from Hogwarts, hoping this will stop word from getting out. Much to her horror, it merely makes it more notorious. Everybody is able to read Harry's version of events but not everybody believes him and it's not until the end of the story the truth comes out.
Peeves Dumps Tarantulas
Peeves the poltergeist never made an appearance in the Potter movies, despite him being a regular in the books. In the fifth film, he's there on hand to cause mischief when Fred and George Weasley sensationally leave Hogwarts behind, flying off on their broomsticks. And, after being urged to give Dolores Umbridge 'hell,' he doesn't disappoint.
As numerous pranks take place around the castle, Peeves decides to drop tarantulas on Dolores Umbridge's head. Unfortunately, it's not revealed how scared Hogwarts' biggest arachnophobic Ron was when this incident took place...
Harry's Triumph
Harry's triumph in the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is epic - but it's even better in the book. It takes place in the Great Hall, rather than the courtyard, and with everybody present.
Two separate fights break out involving six characters while the rest of the participants stand on the outskirts, looking at how the action unfolds. When Harry wins, defeating Voldemort once and for all, he's mobbed by everybody present and huge celebrations break out - which is certainly different to how the somber tone the movie served up. It makes both the moment and the ending of the franchise far more satisfying.
