  • Fagbenle teases that the new season could be the best one yet.

The Handmaid's Tale actor O-T Fagbenle teases the show's season after June and Luke's separation in season 5. It has been a relatively extended absence for the defining Hulu hit, which last premiered a new season in September 2022. With The Handmaid's Tale season 6, also the final, set to arrive in 2025, some potential new hints are emerging about what to expect. That includes the fallout for June (Elizabeth Moss) and Luke (Fangbele) after what happened when viewers last saw them.

In an interview with Screen Rant at the premiere of the Apple TV+ series Presumed Innocent, which debuts on June 12, Fagbenle previewed The Handmaid's Tale season 6 and teased what's ahead for his character Luke. The actor, who plays Nico in Presumed Innocent, and has been with The Handmaid's Tale since the beginning, was effusive in his praise and called the final episodes “a banger.” Read it below:

Is anyone ever in a good place in The Handmaid’s Tale? I can say that it’s gonna be a banger. I mean, I’ve been having early conversations with some of the writers and directors, and I think this might be the best season yet.

What Happened To June & Luke In The Handmaid's Tale Season 5?

Luke Stays Behind As June & Nichole Left.

After a high-profile run, with attention from both audiences and critics, the hit Hulu drama will have the heavy task of saying goodbye to crucial Handmaid's Tale cast .

The Handmaid's Tale and its season 5 ending prove to be reliably hellish for June and Luke. The couple manages to survive a mass shooting, but their troubles don't stop there. June, Luke, and June's child, Nichole, are forced to go on the run to avoid anti-refugee sentiment that may put their lives at serious risk. The risk is increased by the fact that Luke, a refugee, will be blamed for killing a citizen.

June and Luke plan to leave by train, though Luke is reluctant to leave his young daughter Hannah (played by Jordana Blake) behind. This proves to be a pivotal reluctance. Luke made sure that June and Nichole got on the train. But as they prepare to depart, Luke says that he's not leaving despite the risks. June doesn't want to accept this, but in the end, she does.
