The full trailer for the Paramount+ series adaptation of Halo will debut on Sunday. Based on the popular XBox video game, Halo focuses on a war between humanity and an alien race called The Covenant, set in the 26th Century. The series is created and written by Steven Kane (The Last Ship) and Kyle Killen (Awake) and stars Pablo Schrieber as Master Chief, Natascha McElhone as Dr. Catherine Halsey, Yerin Ha as Kwan Ha, Charlie Murphy as Makee, Shabana Azmi as iral Margaret Parangosky, and Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066.
Recent teaser trailers have revealed the various characters, outfits, weapons, and settings that have made the Halo franchise so popular, including Master Chief, the most prominent figure in the Halo franchise. Various peeks have been shown of Schrieber in character, including teases of his face and scarred body, showing far more than has ever been seen in the game series. The portrayal of Master Chief in the series is said to show a different side of the character that isn't playable in the game.
Now comes word via Schrieber's portrayal of Master Chief, as well as the other key players in the video game adaptation. No word on specific length of the trailer has been given, but it will likely be a standard 2 to 2.5 minutes in length. Check out the announcement below:
Numerous attempts have been made to adapt Halo to live-action in the last few decades, including a version from Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp in 2005. However, nothing ever came to fruition with the adaptation, despite a massive bidding war over the property. The Halo brand continued to flourish nonetheless, with game sequels and spinoffs, merchandise, comic books, etc. The most recent game, Halo Infinite, was released in December 2021.
It's unclear how much Paramount+ will be sharing vs. what they will hold back, but Halo fans certainly don't want to miss the reveal next week. While many fans anxiously await the turnout of the show, the peeks thus far have looked promising. It's impossible to please all fans, but so long as the heart and spirit of the series is there, then there's potential for Halo to be something special, even if it's out of the players' hands for how things play out.
