A Covenant-raised human, Makee (Charlie Murphy) died in Covenant's "blessed one" has played a key role in the show's sophomore season — even if she's just on the periphery of the main story for now. Makee's earliest season 2 appearance sees her stealing a Forerunner artifact alongside a squadron of Elites.

Prior to that moment, the Chief swore he saw his one-time lover and fellow "blessed one" on Sanctuary before the Covenant glassed the planet. While John-117's judgment was called into question before Spartan program creator Dr. Catherine Halsey (Natascha McElhone) and ex-Spartan Soren-066 (Bokeem Woodbine) look on in horror.

Makee’s Elite Comrade Should Fulfill The Role Of Halo 2’s The Arbiter

Halo season 2 hasn't fully explained biggest moments in Halo's Fall of Reach episode involves Makee's dynamic with both John and her Elite ally. After John ignites an energy sword and locks sabers with Makee's right-hand Sangheili, he's over-powered. Ready to strike a finishing blow, the Elite is stopped by Makee, who tells him, "Not yet." Despite obeying Makee's command, the Sangheili warrior looks frustrated.

Halo’s Kwan Teased A Missing Villain & Massive Story From The Games

Although Kwan Ha, an insurrectionist from Madrigal, is a divisive character created for the Halo show, her season 2 plot teases a major Halo villain.

Dubbed the Covenant's Var 'Gatanai (Viktor Åkerblom), the high-ranking Elite leads the Covenant's invasion of Reach and promises to show no mercy for its inhabitants. In many ways, Var 'Gatanai recalls Halo 2's Thel 'Vadam — better known by the term the Arbiter. In Halo lore, the title of Arbiter is a ceremonial, religious, and political rank. In Halo 2, it's given to Thel 'Vadam as a means of atoning for past failures. Tasked with serving the Prophets, the Arbiter has a change of heart when he discovers his superiors' true intentions, pushing him to ally with the humans.

Halo’s Blessed Ones Pose An Interesting Dilemma For The Flood Plotline

Halo Season 2 Arbiter Var 'Gatanai

When the Arbiter learns that the Prophets' plan to activate the Halo array would doom all sentient life in the universe, he takes a stand against his own kind. So far, Halo season 3 seems primed to explore the Flood, a near-unstoppable parasitic lifeform that went to war with the Forerunners. As the story goes, the Forerunners used the Halo array to destroy the Flood's food source — all sentient life in the universe. In the Paramount+ series, only the "blessed ones" seem able to activate Forerunner technology, which means John or Makee could trigger the Halo array.

The Arbiter (Keith David) was introduced in Halo 2.

Again, it's not yet clear if John and Makee retained their "blessed one" abilities. John lost his abilities after temporaily surrendering his body and mind to Cortana (who was since removed). Meanwhile, Makee might be a resurrected or flash-clone version of the season 1 character, who seemed to pretty blatantly die. If Makee still has her "blessed one" abilities, however, the friction between Makee and the Var 'Gatanai could grow. If the Elite becomes the Halo TV show's version of the Arbiter, Var 'Gatanai is poised to turn against Makee in order to stop the activation of the array.
