The Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game will not only offer players plenty of punchy dialogue, but it will also have an impressive soundtrack - complete with its own fake band. Music is a huge part of many video games and the Guardians of the Galaxy films, so getting the soundtrack right will be really important.

With only a short time to go before its launch, Guardians of the Galaxy fans are being treated to waves of new information and teasers about the game. Most recently, players got to see Star-Lord and his band of misfits attempting to con none other than Lady Hellbender herself, by selling off Groot to the monster collector. This clip highlighted the humorous back-and-forths that players can expect throughout the game, including Drax’s attempts at flirting with the towering queen of Seknarf Nine. However, Peter Quill’s love of '80s music will also impact the game.

A new insight video has now been revealed by Eidos-Montréal via YouTube, and fans have finally got the chance to take a closer look and listen to the amazing new soundtrack for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. According to Senior Audio Director Steve Szczepkowski, "the music is definitely infused in the DNA of this game… The guardians are pretty much a rock and roll band.” Perhaps most impressively though, is that along with licensed '80s classics such as KISS' “I Love It Loud” and Hot Chocolate’s “Everyone’s A Winner,” the developers have also included Guardians of the Galaxy’s very own fictional band within the game – called Star-Lord.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Game Has A Fictional Band Called Star-Lord

The fictional Star-Lord Band within Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy left a huge impression on the Guardians’ leader Peter Quill and inspired him to create his alias. Peter Quill has curated his persona and image around his love for music, and his adoration for the Star-Lord band is apparent not only in his pseudonym but also in his attire. Peter Quill’s jacket has the fictional band’s logo emblazoned across its back, and he has attached a Star-Lord pin badge to its front.

However, the Star-Lord band goes beyond just adding a cosmetic touch to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Rather, Steve Szczepkowski revealed that he has also created an entire Star-Lord album to accompany the game. The original tracks on this album all reflect, and celebrate, the “rock and roll, dysfunctional nature of the Guardians family.” Szczepkowski not only got to pen the lyrics for this fictional band's album, but he also personally recorded the lead vocals. Snippets of the first song, titled “Space Riders with No Names,” can be heard in the video. The video can be viewed here:

While it remains to be seen how the rest of the album from the Star-Lord band gets woven into Guardians of the Galaxy’s narrative, this dedication to the game’s immersion is a truly impressive feat from the audio team at Eidos-Montréal. And it certainly bodes well for music fans, with Szczepkowski emphasizing his desire for the music in the game to be fun and make players smile. Which, if this short clip of Star-Lord is anything to go by, Guardians of the Galaxy should do just that.
