Several disappointed players are accusing Rockstar Games of deceit, after the developer's latest patch to fix numerous classic versions of the GTA trilogy returned to the Rockstar Launcher, and PC players who purchased the trilogy's Definitive Edition received them at no additional cost and will continue to do so until June 30, 2022.

The long-anticipated GTA trilogy remaster released last week across consoles and PC, allowing players to re-experience the classic PS2-era titles - Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - revamped with visual enhancements and gameplay improvements on modern platforms. Unfortunately, backlash began following its initial launch, with disappointed fans taking to social media to mock the GTA trilogy remaster's numerous bugs, inconsistencies, and lack of polish that rendered it near-unplayable. This was further worsened when the Rockstar Launcher stopped functioning shortly after its release, and the GTA trilogy's PC version was subsequently taken down - angering many fans, especially those looking to be refunded for the temporarily removed titles.

Overwhelmingly negative for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition continues, as players are now claiming Rockstar Games' latest patch didn't fix the collection's several ongoing issues - including its obscure rain effect. While many on social media pointed out the issues listed in the patch notes still appear to exist in-game (such as numerous graphical glitches, bugs, and broken game mechanics), insiders gave in-depth details on why the remasters are still broken. One YouTuber, TKs-Mantis pointed out during a special commentary video that the games' rain often stalls and becomes disoriented due to incorrect graphical layering. Meanwhile, another content creator, Shane Luis, tweeted that Rockstar's latest update "is a lie" and that none of the glitches that the developer listed were fixed. This point is backed up by popular GTA investigator Vadim M., who claims some fixes from recent patch notes are actually intended for a future patch.

Despite the developers announcing that the Definitive Edition will be updated and improved over time for maximum satisfaction, angry players are flooding Rockstar's to request refunds. Strangely, consumers are being met with unresolved delays or rejected inquires and have taken to different measures. Now, the GTA trilogy sits below a 1.0 on Metacritic across multiple platforms, making it one of the worst game launches of 2021.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition only released recently and it's quickly becoming one of the most controversial and disliked games of the year. With graphical glitches, terrible performance, and out-of-place world changes, some believe the GTA Trilogy to be the worst Rockstar Games release to date. While it's uncertain why the developer left several technical issues in the games following its recent patch, additional updates are expected in the future to fix its problems and more.
