Summary
- GTA+ offers access to classic Rockstar titles, catering to a wider audience than just GTA fans.
- The monthly subscription is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, leaving PC players unable to .
- New game additions like Red Dead Redemption and titles like L.A. Noire and Bully enhance the subscription value.
The GTA+ service mostly acts as a way to get the most out of the GTA Online experience, but the inclusion of some past Rockstar titles in the Games Included With GTA+ library is a major additional draw. This change was first made in September 2023 with the introduction of the GTA: The Trilogy remaster package, making the subscription a bit more appealing to those who aren't as thoroughly invested in GTA Online. With some new additions and more announced for later in the year, the debatable value of the subscription is definitely starting to become more tangible.
Introduced for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release of GTA Online, GTA+ has been one source of cash flow from the continually lucrative game for the past two years. The service comes in at a monthly cost of $5.99, which grants access to a long list of member-exclusive benefits that can change from month to month. PC players, however, are out of luck, as GTA+ has remained exclusive to the newest generation of consoles.

GTA 6 Gameplay Has An Even Higher Bar To Reach After GTA Online Update
GTA Online’s new feature leaves a big pair of shoes for GTA 6 to fill. More recent releases have shaped expectations for the future of GTA.

Remastered Grand Theft Auto Games
The bulk of games added to the GTA+ library so far are unsurprisingly classic GTA titles, starting with the inaugural entry GTA: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition. This remastered version of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas has been controversial since its launch, thanks to key issues regarding its performance, stability, and authenticity to the original games. After a series of improvements, it's definitely playable as a way to experience some classics, but it may not be a huge draw for anyone with access to other versions.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition Review - Underdefined
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition does not provide the best way to experience GTA 3, Vice City, or San Andreas.
The other GTA titles available on the service are two handheld entries — GTA: Liberty City Stories and GTA: Chinatown Wars. Liberty City Stories, originally released on the PSP, takes the story back to the Liberty City setting before the events of GTA 3 and translates a lot of key series elements to a significantly smaller screen. Chinatown Wars, which appeared on both the DS and PSP, updates the top-down approach of early GTA games for yet another unique take on Liberty City.
In March, GTA+ got its first non-GTA addition with Red Dead Redemption and its standalone expansion Undead Nightmare. On PS5, this classic western can be played at 60 FPS for the first time, while it gets a 4K resolution boost but stays locked to a 30 FPS framerate on Xbox. This can be a valuable prelude for those who haven't played RDR 2 or a good look at its origins for those who have.
Games Coming To The GTA+ Subscription Later In 2024
Two Cult Classic Titles Are Coming To GTA+
As mentioned in a news post available on the official Rockstar Games website, GTA+ will be getting more games in 2024. Although the full scope of what "more Rockstar classics" might entail hasn't yet been revealed, L.A. Noire and Bully have been announced for yet unstated release dates.

Forget GTA 6 & Red Dead Redemption 3 - We Really Need L.A. Noire 2
While many Rockstar fans have their sights on new Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption games, the best possible new entry would be L.A. Noire 2.
L.A. Noire borrows from GTA's playbook in taking a look at the seedy underside of a major city, although it switches the perspective to follow an LAPD detective instead of a criminal. With a 1947 setting, it draws on the mood of classic noir works while maintaining the familiar Rockstar edge.
Bully might be even more of a good fit for GTA fans, transcribing a similar brand of anarchic gameplay to a boarding school setting. In the absence of the long-anticipated Bully 2, which sadly rests in the graveyard of Rockstar's many canceled projects, this 2006 game remains the best fulfillment of that particular fantasy.

The GTA+ game library is still slim compared to what most gaming subscriptions offer, but it does at least manage to collect several key titles from a great developer in a convenient package. The fact that it's continuing to expand is also a good sign, especially since no games have yet been removed from the service over the course of its availability. Although GTA+ might not be worth it for the average GTA Online player, it's steadily improved as an option for those willing to pay up.
