A second trailer for release date was delayed to 2026, and keen-eared viewers think they've pinned down which actors are lending their voices to Rockstar's latest. GTA 6 is taking players back to the sun-soaked Vice City, and while it focuses on criminal couple Jason and Lucia, there are two other characters who seem to have recognizable voices.
Trailer viewers think Stephen Root voices Brian Heder and Bobby Moynihan plays Cal Hampton, two characters introduced in the new trailer and now featured on the Rockstar Games website. Reddit sagesmoker is "99% confident" Stephen Root plays Brian Heder, who is seen in the trailer antagonizing Jason about not being a "paying tenant."
In a separate thread, Kennyjive agrees with comments pointing out the same, but also notes that it seems to be Bobby Moynihan voicing "the mullet dude," aka Cal Hampton, who is seen in a chop shop near the end of the trailer.
Are Stephen Root And Bobby Moynihan In GTA 6?
Most Of The Cast Is Unconfirmed
At the time of writing, Stephen Root and Bobby Moynihan's potential involvement in GTA 6 has not been officially confirmed. In fact, Rockstar has remained tight-lipped on the entire cast – not even Lucia and Jason's actors have been announced, even though speculation has run rampant since Lucia featured prominently in Trailer 1. To viewers' credit, however, Root and Moynihan are very good guesses for Brian Heder and Cal Hampton.
Brian Heder is an aging drug runner who worked extensively in the Leonida Keys (the in-universe equivalent of the Florida Keys), and now appears to be something of a fixer, "[letting] others do his dirty work," according to Rockstar's website. It would be a fitting role for Root, who has more recently become known for his role as Fuches in Barry, who operates as a negotiating intermediary for Barry, a professional assassin.
Cal Hampton is "an associate of Brian's," but more importantly, one of Jason's friends. Cal leans eccentric, casually listening to coast guard communications to cultivate a general air of paranoia with seemingly a variety of conspiracy theories. If it is Moynihan voicing Cal, it's another great fit, since the actor plays a wide array of quirky roles on Saturday Night Live.
GTA 6 Having A Star-Studded Cast Would Be Unsurprising
The Biggest Blockbuster Of 2026
With GTA 6's long development and likely immense budget, it would not come as a surprise to see recognizable names like Root and Moynihan among the cast list. GTA games are already filled with famous actors, so there is no reason to think Rockstar would avoid hiring well-known talent for 6.
Voice acting is increasingly becoming a more prominent part of the gaming industry – an Indiana Jones and the Great Circle PS5 promo even brought Nolan North and Troy Baker together to celebrate the port. If any game isn't going to skimp on talen it's Grand Theft Auto 6, and while Stephen Root and Bobby Moynihan aren't confrimed as cast , it would not be shocking if they were soon.
