The recent Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, and GTA 6 seems to be taking heavy cues from Rockstar's latest Wild West simulator.

When it launched back in 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2 found immediate critical acclaim for its emotional story, intense gameplay and detailed open world. The title strives to truly immerse players in the American frontier, which extends to everything from clothing style to wildlife behavior to gunplay. Firearms behave believably and require routine maintenance to perform efficiently, and protagonist Arthur Morgan must eat and drink regularly to remain healthy. Rockstar Games also introduced an in-depth conversation system in Red Dead Redemption 2, which lets Arthur greet and respond to non-player characters in a variety of tones and styles. RDR2 players love to antagonize NPCs during gameplay, and the Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks suggest that this mechanic will return in Rockstar's next game.

The recent Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay video leak revealed an abundance of new information about Rockstar's in-development title, including the fact that it will at least partially take place in the Miami-inspired metropolis of Vice City. One of the most extensive videos shows a female playable character and her male accomplice robbing a diner, and this open-world robbery looks to be extremely believable and reactive. The player is seen giving orders to non-player characters, taking hostages, getting into a firefight, and fleeing from police during the GTA 6 gameplay leak video.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Wanted Bounty

Based on the diner robbery and other leaked videos, Grand Theft Auto 6 will borrow some of Red Dead Redemption 2's most impressive features. The most glaring example of this is the dialogue system, which let Arthur greet or antagonize strangers and choose different responses when speaking to fellow Van der Linde outlaws. GTA 6 seems to have adopted this innovative mechanic, which the female protagonist uses to demand money from cashiers in the diner. The leaks also seem to show off RDR2's Wanted system being carried into GTA 6, which sees law enforcement search a specific area for the player unless they can don a disguise or otherwise throw off the scent.

Given that Rockstar designed GTA 6 gameplay, it should be no surprise that key features from Red Dead Redemption 2 are making a triumphant comeback. Based on the leaked videos the game is poised to keep RDR2's dialogue and Wanted systems, which will make Vice City an immersive location to explore. Grand Theft Auto 6 is still early in development, however, so only time will tell whether Red Dead Redemption 2 still has a major influence on the final version of the game.
