It's been a big week for the new GTA 6 trailer, the second-ever released, which surprised fans last week, over a year after the initial trailer's launch.
Rockstar also updated its official website recently, including new details about GTA 6. Suffice it to say we know a lot more about GTA 6 today than we did this time last week. Here are some of the biggest updates and new reveals we've seen recently.
5 GTA 6 Introduces Old & New Characters
An Update To GTA 6's Cast
GTA 6's first trailer was largely focused on location, showing us a wide variety of different places we'll be able to visit in Vice City. But the setting took a little more of a backseat in the second trailer, which is decidedly more focused on character. We see quite a few new characters of the people we'll likely be collaborating with as we follow Jason and Lucia's journey across Vice City: Brian Heder, a local drug smuggling boss; Cal Hampton, a laid-back collaborator; Boobie Ike, a real estate and strip club mogul moving into the music industry.
Dre'quan Priest and the of musical act Real Dimez are also introduced as part of Ike's faction. Successful bank robber Raul Batista also makes an appearance.

I'm Convinced Rockstar Doesn't Understand GTA 6's Marketing Either
Grand Theft Auto 6’s strange marketing has worked so far, but it feels like Rockstar doesn’t know what to do with it, and that could be a problem.
In addition, if the first trailer was Lucia's introduction, the second is Jason's. It begins with a look at his daily life while Lucia is in prison, and continues as he picks her up on the day of her release. The two then cut a path of debauchery across Vice City, going from dockside beers to cheap shots to armed robbery and car chases.
The second trailer also reveals what's likely to be GTA 6's main antagonist, an unnamed police officer. He's only heard speaking a single line ("Us cops gotta stick together,") but he's also seen making what certainly look like shady backroom deals, and conducting a raid on an unknown location. Of course, we still know relatively little about this character, but given his profession and portrayal, he's a likely candidate for the game's biggest villain.
4 GTA 6 Reveals New Story Details
Lucia & Jason's Journey
Also revealed as part of the latest trailer were some major story details for GTA 6. Again, the trailer opens with Jason picking Lucia up when she gets out of prison, then follows them as a little bit of a story starts to emerge. They move into a small starter apartment together, which Jason describes as a good start for the two of them. We also see Lucia coming home in a high-visibility vest, presumably fresh from a hard day of work at a legitimate job, then collapsing on the couch. We see early details of their relationships with the characters listed above.
What I've been able to piece together is that GTA 6 will likely feature a bit more of a rags-to-riches story than GTA 5, with the relationship between Jason and Lucia at its center. It begins with the both of them at a low point after Lucia's release from prison. She'll probably have trouble finding a decent job, then struggle to stay afloat on minimum wage, only to turn back to crime because she realizes that, if nothing else, it pays.

Another GTA Game Could Be Releasing This Year, According To Leaker
An alleged Rockstar Games insider is claiming a remaster of Grand Theft Auto 4 could be released this year, after GTA 6's delay.
Jason, meanwhile, is portrayed as a charitable figure at the beginning of the game, fixing a roof for tenants who have lapsed on their rent. We'll watch as these two underdogs, trying to build a comfortable life for themselves in an unsympathetic America, gradually turn to crime to stay alive.
3 GTA 6 Reveals New Map Locations
Vice City, Baby!
In addition to character and story details, Rockstar has also revealed quite a bit about some of the locations we'll be able to explore in GTA 6. First, there's the iconic Vice City, which is here divided into several districts: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, VC Port, and more. Each neighborhood will have a unique character, and feature
Players will also be able to escape to the Leonida Keys, a series of laid-back, beachy islands off the south coast. Where the city is lively and chaotic, the Keys are quiet and spread out - although there'll probably be lots of luxury cars and tricked-out speedboats if you know where to look.

Fans Are Piecing Together Their Own GTA 6 Map Of Leonida After The Second Trailer
GTA 6’s latest trailer has provoked even more fan speculation on what its world looks like, providing a massive update to a fan-made mapping project.
Next, there's Grassrivers, GTA 6's take on the Everglades. A vast expanse of swampland, Grassrivers stands in stark contrast to the high rises of Vice City. You'll have few human threats to worry about, but hungry gators may lurk beneath the murky waters. Mount Kalaga is another natural park, more mountainous and wooded in contrast to Grassrivers' lowland.
Port Gellhorn tells a sadder story: once the heart of Vice City's tourist industry, it's fallen on hard times. There's also Ambrosia, a small community north of Vice City, characterized by its working-class population and the biker gang that rules it with an iron fist.
2 GTA 6 Makes Launch Platforms Official
No PC Or Switch 2 - Yet
At the very end of its second trailer, GTA 6 also made official confirmation of its launch platforms: it'll be available on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and nothing else, debunking one rumor and confirming another. The spate of third-party, AAA releases recently announced for the Switch 2 (including Elden Ring, Borderlands 4, and Cyberpunk) led many to believe that GTA 6 could launch for the handheld as well. We now know it won't, although I wouldn't count GTA 6 on Switch 2 out completely. There's still a possibility it could be ported over later.

"PS6 Leaked!" Fans React To Console Fake Spotted In GTA 6 Trailer
Some new memes are popping amongst the GTA 6 community, after fans spotted a fake console that resembles a PlayStation product in the GTA 6 Trailer 2.
In addition, we also know for certain now that GTA 5 won't be available on PC at launch. Again, there could be a later port planned, but at least in the early days of its release, you'll only be able to play it on home consoles. I'd say a PC port seems more likely than a Switch port, though, especially given GTA 5's thriving online community, a large subsection of which plays on PC.
It's also worth noting that the entirety of GTA 6's second trailer was captured in-engine on a base PS5 - not even a Pro. It shows off impressive realism and pretty incredible optimization for what will be, by the time of GTA 6's release, a six-year-old console. Still, none of what we saw in the trailer included gameplay, and running a game of GTA 6 could look very different from the pre-rendered trailers.
1 GTA 6 Has A Real Release Date
For The First Time Ever
Finally, GTA 6 was recently given a concrete release date: May 26, 2026. This is roughly a half-year delay from its originally stated release window, which had it coming out sometime in fall 2025. The delay isn't a total surprise if you've been following GTA 6's development cycle so far: it's been rumored for a long time, to the point that certain of Rockstar's team didn't even believe it would come true.

GTA 6's Delay Is The Best Thing That Could Have Happened In 2025
Grand Theft Auto 6’s delay may seem like terrible news, especially for fans, but it is actually the best thing that could have happened in 2025.
Delays are always disappointing, sure, but at least we have a concrete release date now instead of a wide seasonal window. And, if nothing else, it's the biggest news we've had on Grand Theft Auto 6 in over a year, and comes alongside several big reveals about the game itself.
