Despite rumors that Rockstar Games has internally delayed the planned 2025 release of GTA 6, parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed otherwise. Since the game's first trailer released nine months ago, Rockstar has been suspiciously quiet on the game's development, leaving players anxiously awaiting more news as the planned release window inches closer.

The silence and lack of new teasers from Rockstar led to rumors that the game may be delayed past its Fall 2025 release window - other developers have been steadily feeding players more content for other 2025 releases, and the gap for Rockstar is an unusually long one. Thankfully, despite the rumors, GTA 6 will still release as planned, as an annual report for Take-Two (Rockstar's parent company) confirms that the game is still on track to release next Fall. The document, (via Indy 100) was released on Sept 18 and confirmed that at this moment, Rockstar is dedicated to its initially-planned release window.

In the 2024 Annual Report, Take Two writes:

"Rockstar Games continues to invest in the franchise and plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall of calendar 2025. The label released its first trailer for the title in December 2023 and will share more details over time."

Though this does not give fans any indication as to when new trailers or details about the game will be made available, at the very least the rumors of a delay can be put to rest.

Rumors Of A Delay Were Quickly Squashed Online

Though Details Of The Game Are Still Sparse

The first trailer for GTA 6 was released in December 2023, marking an unusually long span of time Rockstar has gone between an announcement trailer and revealing more content. This quickly led to rumors that the game had been pushed to 2026, causing some chaos online. Though multiple sources at Rockstar privately denied this, it didn't stop players from worrying that they would have to wait even longer to get their hands on the game.

It seems that the sequel game will be released for PC at launch, according to an anti-cheat update released for GTA Online. In the patch notes, the update included the implementation of the anti-cheat software for "Project America," which was the codename for Grand Theft Auto 6. This would be the first time any title in the GTA franchise has a release on PC at launch, as players typically have to wait for the game to be ported from consoles.
