Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for the Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 finale. After the penultimate episode revealed the identity of Quiche, it was hard to figure out what could come next in the Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 finale. There ended up being a mystery to finally solve, and the four “night gardeners” had to figure out how to deal with the pressure mounting on them. Meanwhile, everyone had to figure out what to finally do with Quiche now that excavation work was starting on the garden.
The Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2, and now we need to hope that Peacock saves the day.
Birdie Stands Up To The P.I.
Birdie Finds A Way To Con A Blackmailer
With the threat of Quiche, who turned out to be Grosse Pointe Garden Society's Kevin (Ron Yuan), being exposed in the garden excavation work, Birdie (Melissa Fumero), Catherine (Aja Naomi King), Alice (AnnaSophia Robb), and Brett (Ben Rappaport) had to figure out where to put the body. They couldn’t risk being caught, but Catherine figured that one out. Now it meant digging up the body and moving it, and while they knew that a week would lead to some decomposition, they were not expecting to find no body at all.
As Birdie itted to Joel that she had the money available, she also made it clear that she wasn’t going to pay it. Blackmailers always come back for more, and Birdie has first-hand experience with that.
That’s when the private detective came back into the story, deciding to blackmail the four. As Birdie itted to Joel (Matthew Davis) that she had the money available, she also made it clear that she wasn’t going to pay it. Blackmailers always come back for more, and Birdie has first-hand experience with that. So, she decides to set up a plot that switches out the coordinates for Quiche for a bag of jigsaw puzzle pieces.

AnnaSophia Robb & Aja Naomi King Were Shocked By The Same Grosse Pointe Garden Society Scene: "That's Dark"
ScreenRant interviews Aja Naomi King and AnnaSophia Robb about Alice's feud and Catherine and Birdie's friendship in Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
Fortunately for them, the private detective has a heart attack as he’s threatening them. They could just leave him there and have another body to hide, and that’s the way it seemed like Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 could end. However, they realized that they had to do the right thing and got him to the hospital after performing R. The guy’s daughter thanks them, calling them angels, because she clearly doesn’t know what they or her dad were up to.
The Real Dog Killer Reveal Explained
Alice Learns Who Really Killed Molly
The big mystery left before Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 ended was the identity of Molly the dog’s killer. Alice presumed that it was Patty (Nancy Travis) after the reveal of the gun, but it turned out it was someone we never expected. As Marilyn (Jennifer Erwin) called Alice to the house to help track down the missing quilt, Alice spilled a drink and needed to look for paper towels under the kitchen sink. While there, she finds Molly’s blue bandana.

Jennifer Irwin Shares Her Grosse Pointe Garden Society & St. Denis Medical Crossover Pitch
ScreenRant interviews Jennifer Irwin about Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 episode 9 and the possibility of reuniting with Wendi McLendon-Covey.
Like the death of Quiche, the death of Molly was an accident. Molly had been attacking Mr. Fingers, but Marilyn assumed it was a coyote since the attack was happening in the bushes. Since she couldn’t see anything, Marilyn blindly shot into the bushes, and then called Patty to help clean up the incident.
There is no reason for anyone to look in there, and by the time it gets to next spring, when the compost will be used, Quiche should be part of the dirt.
After Marilyn comes clean, Alice realizes that she can’t hide from her own actions anymore. She heads to the police station, and it looks like she’s going to turn herself in for Quiche’s death. However, in the time jump to Halloween, the other three are still walking free, and only Alice is missing, so we don’t really know what she gave a statement about or where she is.
Catherine Finds Another Option To Hide Quiche
Quiche Will Help The Garden Grow
Of course, the four gardeners need to figure out where to put Quiche’s body, not realizing that Quiche has been moved at the start of the episode. As Catherine looks over headshots for her growing realtor business, she is about to place compostable items into the trash. Her daughter stops her to point out that composting is important, and that’s when Catherine gets a bright idea.

Quiche can help the garden grow by placing him in the compost in the garden. There is no reason for anyone to look in there, and by the time it gets to next spring, when the compost will be used, Quiche should be part of the dirt. Catherine did ballpark the time of decomposition, because she wasn’t dumb enough to use her phone to Google it.

Melissa Fumero & Ben Rappaport Talk Romance & Reveals In Grosse Pointe Garden Society Season 1
ScreenRant interviews Grosse Pointe Garden Society stars Melissa Fumero and Ben Rappaport about Birdie's arc and the show's potential romance.
Once the group gets the coordinates for Quiche’s body off the private detective, they manage to go through with the entire plan. Poor Kevin is laid to rest (again!) in the composter, and that’s where he remains until at least Halloween. That’s when we jump to as the series sets up Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2.
How Grosse Pointe Garden Society Season 1 Finale Sets Up Season 2
Who Is Duck In Grosse Pointe Garden Society?
At the end of Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1, we jump to Halloween, so possibly around six months later. The Halloween “Spooktacular” event is happening, but the focus for Birdie, Catherine, and Brett is a new mystery. Someone dressed in a duck costume, who we will call Duck, is tied up on a chair.
Duck is clearly a threat to the group and likely knows something about Quiche. However, we have no idea who is under the costume, and we also don’t know where Alice is. She wasn’t spotted after going to the police station to make a statement.
Joel had been setting up a fake plane ticket for Kevin to make it look like he was going away, but we don’t know if that was finalized.
However, the finale did set up a mystery for Doug and Patty to solve. Patty asks about where Kevin is, and Doug (Alexander Hodge) reveals that he didn’t go to the cabin for ice fishing with him. Kevin has been missing for a week without Patty realizing, and now she is sure to make a report. Joel had been setting up a fake plane ticket for Kevin to make it look like he was going away, but we don’t know if that was finalized. Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2 has a few questions to answer with the way the finale sets things up.
What To Expect From Grosse Pointe Garden Society (Assuming It Gets Renewed)
There’s More Than Just The Duck Mystery
While there is certainly the mystery of who Duck is, Grosse Pointe Garden Society has a lot more going for it if it gets renewed. The finale saw Birdie and Ford (Felix Wolfe) connect, as he shared all about what he’s getting at college. He’ll be away at college by the time of the Halloween event, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be included in flashes leading up to Halloween, as he made it clear he would be around all summer. This allows for more bonding between mother and son.
One of Joel’s deputies is a smart man, and he knows that the gas station attendant was telling the truth.
On top of that, Birdie is dealing with her pregnancy by Joel, who may or may not be under suspicion as well. One of Joel’s deputies is a smart man, and he knows that the gas station attendant was telling the truth. He just needs to get to the bottom of it, and that will mean trying to prove Catherine and Birdie were at the gas station that night.

The Vampire Diaries' Matthew Davis & New Amsterdam's Jocko Sims Knew Grosse Pointe Garden Society Was Special
ScreenRant interviews stars Matthew Davis and Jocko Sims about what drew them to NBC's crime dramedy, Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
Tucker (Jocko Sims) covered up the gas station video, and that means he has a stake in hiding the truth in Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2. On top of that, Mel (Nora Zehetner) has asked for a divorce, and Connor (Josh Ventura) is sure to blame Brett for all of that, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he decided to go on the warpath of proving Brett is up to something shady. All of the gardening club have to watch their backs if Grosse Pointe Garden Society returns.
