Rockstar has teased some of the new enhancements coming in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition. Although the developer has yet to show off gameplay or even screenshots, Rockstar is promising new graphical and gameplay changes for the highly-anticipated GTA trilogy. The remaster has been heavily rumored all year long, with many speculating just how much work Rockstar will be putting into the games.

The GTA trilogy was announced on Friday morning with no official buildup from Rockstar. Some assets and a rating for the collection had leaked leading up to it, but it had largely gone unacknowledged by the developer until a teaser trailer was released. The trilogy is slated to release before the end of 2021, making for a really quick turnaround from Rockstar. The developer is notorious for delaying its games, and given the tight window that's been established for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, it remains to be seen when the remasters will hit shelves.

Rockstar is planning to talk more about the trilogy in the coming weeks, but has shared some new information in a blog post. In the post, removing the original versions of the GTA trilogy from digital stores and will replace them with the remastered trilogy. Additionally, the developer noted the trilogy will feature "across-the-board upgrades including graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements for all three titles, while still maintaining the classic look and feel of the originals." As of right now, the specifics of these enhancements remain unclear, and Rockstar hasn't given an exact day to expect more information.

GTA The Trilogy The Definitive Edition 3 Vice City San Andreas

It's pretty likely that the developer will share something on October 22, 2021, as that's when the 20th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto 3 is. The trilogy is being released to help celebrate this milestone year for the franchise, so a new trailer may be released on that day. The GTA trilogy is rumored for a November release, possibly to fill the void left by Grand Theft Auto 5's now-delayed remaster.

As for how the game will play and look, previous reputable rumors suggest the game is like a modded version of the original titles running on the Unreal Engine. All in all, it seems more like a remaster than a total remake. Whether Rockstar adds new content into the trilogy remains to be seen, but if the rumors of GTA 6 being set in Vice City are true, it's possible that the developer will leave a clue or two in the neon-drenched city.
