Here’s a quick guide to the Goliath cast for season 2 and the characters they portray. Amazon Original series Goliath is a legal drama co-created by David E. Kelley, who has a ton of experience with the genre having also helmed shows like L.A. Law, Ally McBeal and The Practice. Billy Bob Thornton leads the Goliath TV series cast as Billy McBride and took home a Golden Globe for his performance in the show’s first season.
In season 1 McBride went head-to-head with the law firm he founded and walked out on after an acquitted client committed murder, while Goliath season 3 saw him go toe-to-toe with a billionaire rancher monopolizing local water resources. In the sophomore season, however, McBride represented a teenager falsely accused of a double gangland murder which his intrepid legal team discovered was connected to high-level corruption and crime in Los Angeles city politics.
Unfortunately, Goliath was canceled after its fourth season due to Billy Bob Thorton bringing the project to a close. Apparently, he felt that the Goliath TV series cast had done their jobs and that the story was effectively over. Let’s take a look back at the Goliath cast for season 2 and their characters.
Billy Bob Thornton – Billy McBride
Billy Bob Thornton plays series mainstay Billy McBride in the Goliath TV series cast, a once respected L.A. lawyer who hit the bottle after leaving the prestigious law firm he helped establish. The actor has an illustrious career, appearing in everything from Bad Santa to the TV series Fargo. Nowadays McBride takes on underdog clients while going head-to-head with the kind of rich and powerful people he used to represent. In Goliath season 2, that underdog in the Goliath cast is client is Julio Suarez (Diego Josef) – a 16-year-old wrongly accused of a double murder that has links to Los Angeles’ corrupt political elite and underground cartel activity.
Ana de la Reguera – Marisol Silva
Played by Ana de la Reguera (Eastbound & Down), Marisol Silva is a city councilwoman and mayoral candidate hailing from East Los Angeles who is in the race to become the city’s first Latina mayor. She’s a family friend of Julio and strikes up a romance with McBride after he sets out to prove the teen’s innocence. Ana de la Reguera's career has been on the up and up lately, as she recently Deep Water alongside Ben Affleck.
Mark Duplass – Tom Wyatt
Actor-filmmaker Mark Duplass (Creep) plays Tom Wyatt, a creepy billionaire property developer, and philanthropist, who has contributed big bucks to Silva’s mayoral campaign. As is the case with many newcomers in the Goliath season 2 cast, Tom is a shady character with more than a few skeletons in his closet.
Tania Raymonde – Brittany Gold
Brittany Gold is a high-class escort reluctantly hired by Billy as his legal assistant in Goliath’s first season. In season 2 of the legal drama, Brittany helped McBride investigate Julio’s case but got dangerously close to Tom Wyatt in the process. Brittany is played by Lost star Tania Raymonde who reprised her role in Goliath season 4.
Matthew Del Negro – Danny Loomis
Danny Loomis is a charismatic yet cunning character who works as a fixer for the powerful elite of L.A. under the guide of being a financial analyst. He’s played by Matthew Del Negro who is also known for his roles on City on a Hill, Mistresses, and Scandal.
Nina Arianda – Patty Solis-Papagian
Nina Arianda of Billions fame plays Patty Solis-Papagian, a DUI lawyer who Billy met in Goliath’s freshman season. In season 2, Patty is instrumental in gathering evidence that reveals the true culprits behind the murders Julio is accused of.
Morris Chestnut – Hakeem Rashad
Rosewood star Morris Chestnut rounds out the main Goliath season 2 cast as Hakeem Rashad – a deputy district attorney prosecuting Julio who bears a grudge against Billy McBride.
How The ing Cast Stole Goliath Season 2 From Thornton
While actor Billy Bob Thornton is the best-known member of the Goliath cast, he wasn't the one that people will walk away from season 2 ing. Rather, Creep and The League star Mark Duplass is the one that stole the show right out from under his nose. Duplass plays the creepy killer Tom Wyatt in the sophomore season in a standout performance. His casting was first announced in 2017 for the Amazon Prime show, with little insight given into his character. However, as the season unraveled, he slowly dissolved from a typical white-collar criminal into the antagonistic chilling killer that had many an odd kink to boot (particularly, amputees). The relationships that he brought to the screen were the most intriguing out of all the other characters, simply because his interactions grew to be increasingly bizarre. His shocking behavior only got worse as more about his character was revealed, and his strangeness was what ultimately stole the show from Billy Bob Thornton in Goliath.
