This year's Golden Globe nominations have arrived. The Golden Globe Awards are held annually to recognize the year’s best movies and television series. This year, the Golden Globes will air on January 7, 2024, at 8:00pm EST on CBS.

What Are The Frontrunners of Nominations This Year?
Leading the pack on the movie side of things is Barbie, which landed nominations for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; Best Director, Motion Picture for Greta Gerwig; Best Screenplay, Motion Picture; Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Margot Robbie; Best ing Actor – Motion Picture for Ryan Gosling; three nominations in the Best Original Song category; and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Barbie is ed in success by former Barbenheimer box office competitor Oppenheimer, which received nominations in eight categories including Best Picture, Drama and acting nods for Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr.
Among the Golden Globe categories this year include two new categories: Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy or Television and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. These categories included some surprising nominees, including Chris Rock for his highly controversial special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage. Sneaking its way into the latter category was Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which made it on the list despite Mission: Impossible underperforming box office expectations.
The clear frontrunner on the television front goes to Succession, which had its fourth and final season this year. Eight actors from Succession scored nominations this year: Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, Alexander Skarsgård, and J. Smith-Cameron. Succession is also up for best Television Series, Drama, where it will compete against hit 2023 series The Last of Us. With so many major series and films up for awards, the 2024 Golden Globes will include some tough battles.
This is the first Golden Globes to air on CBS since 1982.
