Theories have been flying about the Monsterverse's next villain since the reveal of the announcement accompanied the movie's first footage and a phone number to call, both of which have been thoroughly scoured for hints.
The Monsterverse has blended beloved classic monsters with original creations really well through the first six movies (and one TV show). However, with Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire featuring brand-new villains in Skar King, Shimo, and the Great Apes, the common belief is that a monster from Godzilla's Toho days will resurface in the world of Titans. Godzilla X Kong: Supernova's title connects to SpaceGodzilla, who was born in a black hole (the result of a supernova), but the actual logo for the movie hints in another, equally-enticing direction.
Godzilla X Kong: Supernova's Logo Points To Gigan
The Alien Cyborg Is A Well-Established Fan Favorite
The logo for Godzilla X Kong: Supernova features the familiar Godzilla X Kong font that has been used before in the Monsterverse's promotional materials, but underneath is the larger, more stylized word "Supernova", the letters of which are wreathed in a reddish-orange glow and throwing off what looks like nebulae. Behind the letter R in the dead center of the logo, however, is a bright red point of light whose shine supplies the background for the word "Supernova". For seasoned Godzilla fans, it's a dead ringer for the red glow of Gigan's visor.

Godzilla x Kong 3's Title Makes A Huge Theory About The Titan War's Secret Villain Even More Likely
A long-standing theory about the ancient Titan War of the MonsterVerse seems even more plausible thanks to the new movie's title.
Gigan is an alien cyborg kaiju who first appeared in the 1972 classic Godzilla vs. Gigan, in which he was presented as the ultimate weapon of the M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens, and deployed to Earth alongside King Ghidorah to help conquer the planet. He is notably capable of supersonic flight, can shoot a laser beam out of his forehead, and is covered in sharp edges, the most lethal of which is a spinning circular saw that protrudes from his torso. Gigan is one of Godzilla's most formidable enemies, as he's bloodied the King of the Monsters on multiple occasions.
How Gigan's Origin Could Be Adapted For The Monsterverse
After Mechagodzilla, Augmented Titans Are On The Table
So far in the Monsterverse, both alien Titans (Ghidorah) and robotic Titans (Mechagodzilla) have done battle with Godzilla and Kong, so the concept of a cybernetically-enhanced Titan would not really be groundbreaking so much as it would be a natural progression.
DID YOU KNOW: Gigan actually appeared in early concept art for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, with an original design that presented him as an organic Titan as opposed to an alien cyborg.
We've already seen Kong himself augmented by his B.E.A.S.T. glove, so the notion of an as-yet-unknown Hollow Earth Titan being enhanced for nefarious purposes, perhaps by the remnants of Apex Cybernetics is totally plausible. Gigan originated from deep space, so he also fits the Supernova/space theme of the title just as SpaceGodzilla would.
Gigan Is A Better Fit For The Monsterverse Than SpaceGodzilla
Godzilla Has Already Battled An Evil Version Of Himself
In reality, Gigan is actually a better fit than SpaceGodzilla in the current Monsterverse, mostly because he represents one of Godzilla's chief enemies without being another Godzilla clone. SpaceGodzilla is, to put it bluntly (and perhaps unfairly), a copy of Godzilla with some slight design tweaks, far more abilities, and crystals jutting out of his shoulders. As cool of a monster as he is, we just saw Godzilla battle another version of himself in Mechagodzilla two movies ago. An updated explanation and design for SpaceGodzilla could help alleviate that, but Gigan seems like the more coherent and entertaining choice.

Gigan brings something original to the Monsterverse both in design and ability, especially if his alien cyborg nature is maintained. He may not have the world-ending capability of a monster like SpaceGodzilla, Ghidorah, or Destoroyah, but Gigan would be an excellent villain for a Godzilla-centric story with some lower, but perhaps more well-written, stakes. In place of destroying the world or enslaving humanity, Gigan could act as a Titan-killer, requiring Godzilla to step up and protect his fellow guardian Titans. Godzilla X Kong: Supernova's title points directly to Gigan, and he might be the best possible choice for the movie.
