The powers and abilities of Godzilla have drastically fluctuated throughout his many iterations, but one thing is certain within all the monster’s variants: Godzilla is a force of nature strong enough to level civilizations. There haven’t been very many instances where Godzilla’s scaled skin, which acts as armor, has been penetrated, with the full force of some countries’ military and nuclear weaponry not even laying a scratch on the mythical beast. This fact makes Scott Summers’ ability to pierce the beast’s armor even more impressive, putting the classic X-Men on par with the world’s most iconic creatures.

Cyclops’ base-level optic blasts may not be able to penetrate further than Godzilla’s hide, but in actuality, Scott has long since sured his basic mutant abilities, and in a state of intense emotion, Cyclops has been able to bring his abilities to new heights. In X-Factor #39, written by Louise Simonson, with art by Walter Simonson, Cyclops similarly obliterates Mister Sinister down to a pile of broken bones. In a sea of omega-level heroes, Cyclops’ talents tend to get overlooked, but when glimpsing at his prior feats, it’s indisputable that he is one of the X-Men’s most consistent powerhouses.

It’s worth noting that Cyclops' iconic visor channels his power so he can better control it; however, when he wants to unleash his full wrath, he takes them off to emit an uncontrolled blast of kinetic energy. This can be seen in Astonishing X-Men #8, written by Joss Whedon, with art by John Cassaday, when Cyclops takes off his visor to destroy a Sentinel, and subsequently levels the entire forest surrounding them, earning praise from Wolverine. Even if Cyclops isn’t the X-Men’s most powerful hero, his ability to pull off what entire armies cannot, including breaking through Godzilla’s armor-like skin, settles just how consequential he is as the X-Men’s leader.

Cyclops’ powers allow him to absorb surrounding energy, channel it into his cells, and then release the stored energy into a concussive force from his eyes, which explains how he has unlimited potential and the firepower to combat Godzilla. Looking at what Scott Summers can do, he should be defined as an Omega-level mutant.
