When it comes to the biggest action in 2020, there will likely not be any movie matching Godzilla vs. Kong. For the first time since 1962, the most famous monsters in popular culture will battle. Interestingly, the film has remained rather secretive regarding its storyline. Director Adam Wingard said in 2017 he "massive monster brawl movie." Beyond that, Legendary has revealed little. Unofficially, however, a toy leak from January may have revealed a new character, which could potentially shape the plot. Fans are hoping Godzilla vs. Kong is a critical and financial hit. Now one star reveals new story details.
Eiza Gonzalez, who was cast in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2018, talked with THR about the event film. THR asked the actress if she had to return for additional photography. According to her, "Everything's been done," and she is looking forward to seeing it. Gonzalez believes fans will enjoy the film.
"The fan base for Godzilla vs. Kong is incredible. When I say I’m in the movie, people are like, “Oh my God.” Seeing that fanaticism and seeing how excited they are to see this movie makes me really excited; I think they’re going to be really happy."
Gonzalez also says along with the many things happening in the film, at the heart of the story is "two young girls as well." This statement is particularly interesting, because that aspect of the storyline was not previously revealed. Presumably, one of these young girls is Madison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown), but time will tell. Some answers will likely be given when the first trailer arrives.
Last year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters set the stage for Godzilla vs. Kong. In one newspaper clipping, it stated that new monsters are "drawn" to Skull Island. Presumably, this will be a plot point. Other newspaper clippings include Rodan nesting in a volcano near Fiji, and a giant (could be Mothra) egg was discovered. These two characters have not been confirmed for Godzilla vs. Kong, so it remains to be seen if they make some kind of appearance. Finally, there was the post-credits scene for the 2019 blockbuster. Ghidorah's severed head will likely be used for something. For now, a lot of things are up in the air. One thing remains likely, however: Godzilla vs. Kong should be one of the more notable films of 2020.
