As one of the richest characters on Gilmore Girls, Logan Huntzberger can also be considered one of the most immature. When he and Rory first meet, he's having the time of his life at Yale and doesn't seem to study or think about the future the way that she does. Logan is friendly, social, and confident, and Rory quickly learns that he comes from such a privileged background that he doesn't have to work for what he has.
Rory can see that Logan has some kindness in his heart, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't mess up sometimes. When Logan is just as mature as Rory in some ways, he makes mistakes in many situations, and he can sometimes seem much younger than he is.
Mature: He Says He Can Commit To Rory
In the season 5 episode "But I'm A Gilmore!" Logan tells Rory that he can commit to being her boyfriend. She's surprised, as he had said he wanted to see each other in a more informal manner, and she had no idea that he was a relationship person.
Logan displays some real maturity in this scene, as he's able to see that his feelings for Rory are so strong that he can't imagine being with anyone else. Many fans love Rory with Logan the most. And while Gilmore Girls has many expected breakups, it's a shock when Logan and Rory break up because she doesn't want to marry him after her Yale graduation.
Immature: He Competes In The Life And Death Brigade
Some viewers think that Logan has better qualities than Dean and Jess, and they like the grown-up Logan/Rory love story. Others think Logan never acts maturely at all. The biggest problem that some fans have with Logan is his involvement in the Life and Death Brigade. Rory goes to see what this group is all about, and Logan gets her to jump with him, which is pretty scary to watch.
Rory fully believes that this is a risky activity, and it's hard for some fans to see Logan continuing to put his life on the line. Of all the immature things that he does, this one is definitely up there.
Mature: He Comes To The Hospital After Richard's Heart Attack
Season 7 may wrap up all the loose ends of every major Gilmore Girls relationship, with Rory and Logan breaking up and Luke and Lorelai reuniting. It's also a season full of tough moments, including when Richard has a heart attack.
Fans love that Logan goes to the hospital to be with Rory. He could shy away from this responsibility, but he wants to be part of her family, and he proves that he can be mature when it's most necessary and impactful.
Immature: He Cheats On His Fiance With Rory
Fans have opinions about A Year In The Life, and it's hard for people to agree with Logan cheating on his fiance Odette with Rory. It doesn't seem like Logan has any interest all in getting married, and he doesn't seem to know how to do the right thing here.
If Logan was more mature, he would break up off his engagement and share his feelings for Rory if that's the person whom he wants to be with. It doesn't seem like Logan has an idea of what he wants out of life, and it's a shame, as some viewers really wanted him to be with Rory in the future.
Mature: He Goes Away With Rory, Lorelai, And Luke
The season 5 episode "A Vineyard Valentine" isn't a comfortable one with Luke. When Rory and Logan go away to Martha's Vineyard with Luke and Lorelai, Luke can't be around Logan and he would rather be anywhere else.
Overall, though, Logan proves himself to be more mature than not in this episode. After all, going away for a weekend with not only his girlfriend but also her mom and partner is a grown-up move. Moreover, he remains polite and hospitable despite Luke's attitude.
Immature: He Doesn't Want Rory To Stay With Him In London During The Summer
At the beginning of season 7, Rory thinks that she could live with Logan in London during the summer, and she seems really excited about this idea. Unfortunately, that plan flies out the window when Logan gets her a ticket to see him during the winter holidays.
It seems strange that Logan wouldn't talk to Rory before making the decision about when she would visit, and it's even more confusing that he doesn't think she could visit him in the summer. She's not even finished with Yale yet, so it would be a great experience for her, and it would allow them to be together in person. Rory and Logan may be a fan-favorite couple, but they have some confusing moments.
Mature: He Can Handle A Long-Distance Relationship
While some people think that long-distance relationships are too hard, Logan and Rory embark on one in season 7 while she's in her last year at Yale and he's working in London. Both are committed to each other and don't think that it will last forever.
Logan could easily tell Rory that they need to go on a break or split up for good, and it would make some sense since they're both so young and still figuring out their lives and careers. But he does the mature thing by sticking around when he moves away and their relationship hits a bump in the road.
Immature: He Cares So Much About What His Father Thinks
Logan doesn't show much maturity in the revival A Year In The Life. Besides having an affair, he also is just as involved with his father as ever, and it doesn't seem like he ever tells his dad what he really thinks, feels, or wants out of his future.
Logan is the kind of person who wants his family to accept him and feel that he's on the right track, so he ignores what he really wants. If only he would grow up more, he would see that being an adult means staying true to himself and being more honest. He could definitely go off on his own path.
Mature: He Can it That He's Wealthy And Lucky
While fans see some issues with Logan's privilege, he at least is aware that he's privileged. In the season 7 episode "Introducing Lorelai Planetarium," Rory writes a story about the launch of Logan's online company, and since she pokes fun at the people there, he's upset with her. He says, "I’m a rich trust-fund kid. I’m not ashamed of it."
It takes a lot for Logan to say this, as he knows that Rory has judged him for his wealthy background in the past, and he knows how people feel about him. Logan is really smart in this scene as he lets Rory know that from his point of view, she's just as lucky as he is, since he has connected her with people and she also has rich grandparents.
Immature: He Won't Date Rory Without Getting Married Young
Rory can't get engaged to Logan when he proposes after her Yale graduation, and that seems totally reasonable to many fans. She doesn't have anything figured out, from her job to where she's going to live, and it just seems like too early to make such a big life change. When Logan gets rejected, he thinks that he and Rory should stop seeing each other permanently, and this is a confusing decision.
Logan's choice to leave Rory doesn't feel like a very mature or adult decision. If he really cares about her, he could wait a few more years to get married. But since Logan is often used to getting what he wants in life, it seems like he's unable to handle the fact that Rory rejected him, and the two sadly split up.
