One of the most comforting things about Gilmore Girls is that fans are familiar with each scene the cast is in. Whether it's Luke's Diner, the town square, or Doose's Market, fans know what to expect depending on where the characters are in the show. Above every location, however, are the characters' homes.
Each home represents the character(s) to a tee. Their personal style and flair can be seen throughout each room, which is what separates each house from the next. But is every home considered cool? Not quite. Some homes are traditional, while others are flat-out boring, but other homes in the Stars Hollow universe have small aspects to them that make them totally unique and cool compared to others.
Sookie & Jackson's House
It's not known how long Sookie has lived in her home, but she must have owned it since she and Jackson began dating because he moved in with her when his lease was up on his apartment. It's cozy and close to town, but is it the coolest?
Not quite. Viewers haven't seen too much of Sookie's house, but it's not as zany and outgoing as her personality. The coolest part about her home was the Thanksgiving party she had where everyone was drinking and eating in her front yard.
Rory's Dorm Rooms
Granted, Rory's dorm rooms were not an actual house but they were her home away from home while at Yale. While Rory had a few apartments during her time at Yale, the best of the best was during her freshman year. The suite had four bedrooms and was furnished beautifully thanks to her grandmother.
Considering this homey suite was in a dorm where parties were held and a coffee cart was nearby, what could be cooler than that? Now, if only Paris didn't terrorize their roommates and judge them for their lifestyles...
Luke's Apartment
At a glance, Luke's apartment isn't anything to write home about. It used to be his dad's office, but, when Luke took over the space, he transformed it into a studio apartment. Without a wife or kids, he didn't need much room, and living about his business was helpful.
However, there are some serious perks about Luke's flat that make it cool. It's above the diner, which means he has a chef's kitchen, endless ingredients, and he doesn't need to commute to work. It's also in the center of the action. It's across from the town square and by all of the shops. Although his apartment is small, it's in the middle of the action in Stars Hollow.
Mrs. Kim's House
Mrs. Kim's house deserves more credit than it gets. It's the family home for her and lane, but Mrs. Kim also runs Kim's Antiques on the ground floor. With so many fun and unique antiques around, guests can constantly learn new things about the goodies inside the Kim residence.
While Mrs. Kim would vomit at the thought of parties being thrown, Lane's childhood bedroom was the perfect place for a sleepover. Lane had every CD for the perfect playlists, along with a hidden lounge in her closet. What kid wouldn't want a private room in their bedroom with disco lights and cozy pillows all over the place?
Logan's Apartment
In 'You've Been Gilmored,' Paris kicks Rory out of her apartment after she was replaced by Rory as editor for the Yale Daily News. With nowhere to go, she moved into Logan's apartment. It was far safer than any other apartment on the market, and it was free—Logan never let Rory pay for much when she was in his presence, anyway.
With Logan working, Rory had his gorgeous penthouse-esque apartment to herself. She was living in a gorgeous, modern apartment that she didn't need to pay for and it wasn't far from school. If Rory was a party gal, she could have had friends over to hang out due to all the space.
Anna Nardini's House
Anna Nardini was the complete parallel to Lorelai. She was a single mother, a business owner, had an attachment to Luke, and even had a similar style to Lorelai. Even her house was similar to Lorelai's. Luke only stopped by her house on two occasions, but, by what fans saw, it seemed similar to Lorelai's house.
It had contrasting colors and patterns in each room and it was a little messy, but viewers could tell that the home was loved. Due to the fun organized mess of it all, it's a cool house to live in but not the coolest.
Lorelai's House
Viewers spent the most time examining Lorelai's house. It was spacious, a little quirky, and colorful. The Gilmore house was the fun house to be at because they had endless amounts of junk food, always had movies to watch, and Lorelai wasn't too strict with the rules.
Their house also had a wrap-round porch, making it perfect for outdoor late-night talks. While it's a little odd that that massive house only had two bedrooms—and on two separate floors—it was still a fun place to study, celebrate, or relax at.
Lane's Apartment With Zack And Brian
When Lane moved out of her mom's house, she stayed with Rory for a little while before getting her own apartment in Stars Hollow with Zack and Brian. It was the ultimate bachelor and bachelorette pad. Lane had her own bedroom, the guys were in bunk beds, there were instruments ready to be jammed on... they were living the life in this apartment.
It was also close to the action in Stars Hollow, which is nice for young adults who are just branching out on their own. Sure, things changed when Lane and Zack had their kids, but it was still a cool place to be because of who lived there.
Jimmy's House
In the third season, Jess decided to leave Stars Hollow in an attempt to start a new relationship with his dad. No one knew Jess's game plan by moving out to California, but he was there to stay for at least a couple of days.
When he showed up at Jimmy's house, he wasn't sure what to expect because he never told Jimmy he was coming. When he found Jimmy's house, he met his girlfriend, Sasha, and their unique lifestyle. The gate opened up to an outdoor space with a handful of rowdy dogs and beautiful plants and trees growing everywhere. Inside, the walls were colorful, with pictures hanging all over. Jess even found Sasha's daughter reading inside a closet, but it oddly made sense for the home that he was standing in. Due to the decor, outdoor space, and distance to the beach, Jimmy and Sasha lived in a cool house.
Emily & Richard's Home
Emily and Richard have the coolest house because of the sheer size. They have a private entrance to their driveway, a pool, an iconic pool house that underwent a $50,000 renovation, a gorgeous garden where Emily liked to entertain, and an office filled with books galore.
The Gilmores had everything to make for a fun day. Sadly, Friday night dinners were not as fun as they could have been, but, if Lorelai got along with her parents, things could have been different. It didn't hurt that Emily and Richard had staff to make everyone as comfortable as possible.
