Gilmore Girls is filled with a variety of meltdowns. Some are comical while others are deeply emotional. The lives of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are jam-packed with stress from work and school, boyfriends, and family drama with Emily and Richard. But Lorelai and Rory aren’t the only ones who have had their fair share of drama.

The people of Stars Hollow have also had a few meltdowns over the years. Lane kept her worries inside until she erupted, and even Luke couldn’t maintain his compsure around people like Taylor. And while every meltdown was felt by Gilmore Girls fans, they weren’t created equal.

As soon as Rory met Logan, her life began to change. Surprising and unexpected happenings were a normal part of her life with him around. And before they were ever romantic, Logan and his friends played a prank on her by interrupting her class with a theatrical show. Colin pretended to be in love with Rory and begged her to stop hurting people. Logan quickly interrupted and the two men brawled in the middle of the class. Rory was humiliated but everyone else was entertained by the spectacle.

Luke's Arrest

When Nicole and Luke were on the outs, Luke felt like something was off between them when he found another man’s socks in their apartment. With an inclination of cheating, Luke caught Nicole walking into their apartment in the arms of another man.

Luke was so furious that he kicked and punched the man’s car until someone called the cops and arrested him. When Lorelai bailed him out, Luke’s rage came back as soon as he saw the car. His meltdown was humorous but it was also upsetting because he was heartbroken. 

Lane Vs. Kyon

Lane was stunned to see another girl filling her shoes when she moved out of her mom's house. Kyon was sleeping in Lane's old bedroom, wearing her old clothes, and doing everything she used to do.

After seeing Kyon in town, Lane erupted. She yelled at her for wearing her clothes and eating her apples and taking her mom from her. Kyon was thrown off by Lane’s rant and ran away in fear but it didn't take away from Lane's comedic outburst.

Taylor Vs. Luke

When Taylor opened up Taylor's Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe next to Luke’s Diner, both men needed to be okay with working together. They weren’t just townspeople and neighbors; Luke also owned the building that their businesses were in. However, when Luke saw that Taylor added a coning window between businesses, he was outraged.

Taylor never asked Luke if a window connecting the two establishments was okay, which was concerning considering Luke was the building owner. This had to have been one of Luke’s biggest meltdowns.

When Lane and Zack got married, Christopher was Lorelai’s date because Luke was out of town. This was Unsurprisingly, her liquid courage was the death of her. She made a depressing speech and essentially told everyone that she’ll never be married because no one wants to marry her. This was majorly embarrassing because it was in front of the whole town at her daughter’s best friend’s wedding...

When A Deer Hit Rory

Rory’s start at Chilton was bumpy. Her teachers knew she could do better, so she overdid the studying before a big exam. But on the morning of, Rory overslept and then got into an accident after a deer hit her. When she eventually got herself together, she showed up late to class. Mr. Medina wouldn’t let her take the exam, which resulted in one of Rory’s first meltdowns. She yelled at the teacher, screamed at Paris, and called out Tristan before being dragged out of the class.

Paris and Rory were both asked to give the opening speech for Chilton’s bicentennial. The two girls were prepared but Paris was off her game on the day of. She was disheveled, quiet, and didn’t participate until she couldn’t keep quiet anymore. She cut Rory off and told the world that she didn’t get into Harvard. Her rampage continued with itting that she lost her virginity, which "could be why she didn’t get accepted." The embarrassment forced Paris to take time off from school and unwind. 

Emily & Richard When Trix Died

When Trix died, Richard was beside himself. He no longer got dressed for the day and became angry and emotional. Emily on the other hand, stopped caring about Trix’s life after death once she found out Trix tried canceling her marriage to Richard. After letting her anger out to Lorelai, Emily switched gears and gave up. She wore her robe around the house, smoked cigarettes (indoors!), and drank all day. It was a sad moment, but fans couldn't help but laugh at actor Kelly Bishop's hilarious performance.

When Emily got into an argument with Richard about her role in the family, she lost her cool. She went to the mall to buy a few things for the family but lost all control. She bossed around the staff, yelled at her daughter and granddaughter, and needed to be coerced out of the store to the food court. Emily felt lost and that she had no purpose. Her meltdown at the mall was the epitome of Emily and one of the greatest (and most telling) scenes in the series.
