Ghosts season 4. The concept brings plenty of unpredictability to the table as the series moves forward.

Speaking with TVLine, though, Moriarty, who plays Pete, revealed how the new character Patience, portrayed by Mary Holland, will show off her own spirit powers in Ghosts season 4. The actor explained how scary her powers are going to be at first, indicating it will throw those living in the house for a loop once they learn more about her. Check out what Moriarty had to say about her character below:

We get to learn what Patience’s ghost power is, and the power is intense. I think it throws everyone in the house off. So we all are a bit standoffish with Patience at first. We’re all a little bit terrified.

Season 3 ended with the hint that Ghosts would explore more time periods with new ghosts, with Patience being one of the ways the series can expand moving forward. The Puritan ghost has been revealed as the one who pulled Isaac into the ground, something that hints at just how powerful a spirit she is compared to the existing characters. It also makes it uncertain if she has any ulterior motives, potentially posing a danger to both the living and the dead depending on what her specific powers could be.

Since Moriarty has hinted at the off-putting nature of Patience's powers, they'll have to be something that's gone unseen in the series up to this point. Her interaction with Isaac could be a clue, perhaps having something to do with physically impacting ghosts themselves. While there's not much to go on, the wildest possibility would be giving Jay the ability to see and interact with certain ghosts. This could explain why his ability to see them was confirmed for season 4, with the newcomer having a role to play in the process.

Although the success of CBS's Ghosts is impressive, the hit sitcom could have had a major impact on a darker, stranger horror comedy series.

However, there's also the possibility her power is something else yet to be considered. Given how dangerous she's been built up as, it's possible it has something to do with influencing other ghosts to do her bidding, raising the stakes of the sitcom when she first arrives. Since Patience is going to be a recurring character, whatever her powers on Ghosts will be, they might end up needing her to be present for multiple episodes in order to properly utilize them.

Ghosts season 4 premieres Thursday, October 17 on CBS.
