Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ghosts season 4, episode 15, “The Bachelorette Party”
Although I don’t doubt that he means well, I’m afraid that Ghosts are the true stars of the series, but this isn’t always a good thing for the show. Although the un-dead residents of the Woodstone Mansion are reliably funny, their character growth has an in-built expiration date on it. After all, in the world of the sitcom, ghosts are “Sucked off” into the afterlife as soon as they deal with their unfinished business on Earth.
Although Isaac’s Ghosts season 4 role has proven that he has a lot of maturing to do before he is likely to vanish, other ghosts are closer to redemption. Sass has done a lot to help out Sam, Jay, and his fellow ghosts, while Trevor noted that Thor has spent centuries making up for his lifetime of bloodshed through kind acts as a ghost. Speaking of Trevor, he is working overtime to become a better person, although I fear that his misuse of his impressive ghost power is doing him no favors in this regard.
Ghosts Season 4, Episode 15 Highlights A Trend About Wasting Trevor's Powers
Ghosts Season 4’s Trevor Stories Fit A Frustrating Pattern
Like many of the sitcom’s ghostly heroes, Trevor has a unique supernatural ability. He can move very small objects very slightly, which sounds unimpressive until viewers realize that this allows him to text, email, and generally use a computer. Trevor’s power makes him uniquely capable of communicating with the living, with only Sass’s ability to enter the dreams of other people coming close to this ability. Sadly, much like my least favorite Ghosts character refuses to grow years after their death, Trevor has only ever used his powers in ways that reinforce the worst aspects of his personality.
The main problem is, pretty consistently, that Trevor needs to communicate with the living before putting his plans in motion.
In season 4, episode 11, “Thorapy 2: Abandonment Issues,” Trevor used his powers to change Bela’s online orders for Jay’s restaurant, causing chaos when it transpired that her original order was correct. In episode 15, “The Bachelorette Party,” Trevor pays off a critic reviewing Mahesh for a positive review without telling Jay, much like he changed Bela’s shrimp order without telling her. The main problem is, pretty consistently, that Trevor needs to communicate with the living before putting his plans in motion.

Ghosts Season 4 Said What Everyone Was Thinking About A Major TV Controversy
Ghosts season 4 episode 12 took a jab at a highly awarded "comedy" show, and the sitcom hinted at a longstanding Emmys controversy in the process.
This was also true of Trevor working a remote job for weeks before telling Sam and Jay, which eventually came to light back in episode 4, “The Work Retreat.” Although Ghosts season 4’s favourite character is clearly Pete, Trevor still gets plenty of screen time and subplots in this outing of the sitcom. As such, it is frustrating when the show repeatedly follows the same pattern with his storylines. Trevor has a potentially good idea, but he refuses to share it with the human characters until it is too late.
Ghosts Needs To Use Trevor's Powers Beyond Being Just A Plot Device
Ghosts Season 4’s Trevor Stories Fit A Sad Pattern
The finance bro genuinely means well, but he keeps slipping up in the same way. Trevor’s Ghosts season 4 story is getting repetitive since viewers now know that his use of his powers will reliably result in a problem that Sam and Jay need to solve. Conflict might be the heart of comedy, but it would be fun to see Trevor play a role in solving problems instead of just inadvertently causing them. After all, he still has one of the most impressive powers of the entire ghost ensemble.

Although more minor characters, like Ghosts season 4’s heroine Flower get a line or two in most episodes, Trevor consistently plays a relatively central role in season 4’s storylines. However, any time he relies on his powers, things go awry. It is about time that, after numerous humbling attempts to handle things on his own, Trevor accepts that he needs to try out a more collaborative approach and starts working with Sam and Jay. This could allow him to utilize his full potential.
How Ghosts Can Use Trevor's Powers More Effectively
Ghosts Season 4’s Best Trevor Twist Would Break This Cycle
Trevor could collaborate with Sam and Jay in Ghosts season 4’s latter half if he stops trying to pull off schemes without giving them any prior warning. Trevor has already worked a remote job for months, so he could definitely handle their restaurant's social media presence or do other online for Mahesh. He is also experienced in the world of finance and, his obsession with so-called “Upscale breast-aurants” aside, he has some offbeat but good ideas for how to run a business.
It is time for Trevor to put his unique skill to better use and time for Ghosts season 4 to embrace his potential.
For all of his flaws, Trevor is clearly talented at making money. As more spirit powers come to light in Ghosts season 4, it is time for him to put his unique skill to better use and time for the sitcom to embrace his potential. As such, Trevor needs to stop going behind Jay and Sam’s backs in Ghosts season 4.
