With Sheldon officially settled in California, the franchise shifts its focus on Georgie and his new life with McAllisters as Mandy's husband and Baby Cece's dad. For the most part, Mary and George's firstborn has been coping, but that doesn't mean that things have been easy for him.

As beloved as Young Sheldon was, it was constantly criticized for breaking the canon. Since Georgie and his new family didn't have much to do with the nerd-centric sitcom, the spinoff sequel has more creative room to craft the story it wants for its characters. One of the main storylines in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 1's finale is about Jim unexpectedly contemplating selling McAllister Auto and Tire. This understandably sends Georgie into a panic, as not only is the business his primary source of income to his family, the idea of him eventually inheriting it has been discussed before. In an attempt to secure his family's future, Georgie offers to buy the business from his father-in-law if he's really set on selling. Sadly, despite Mary putting the Cooper family home as collateral, the money still isn't enough for her son's plan.

Throughout Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage run thus far, Ruben has mostly antagonized Georgie, so the idea of them teaming up seemed unlikely.

Jim refuses Mandy's husband's last and best attempt at taking over McAllister Auto, and that's when Ruben comes in and saves the day. Like Georgie, he also sought help from his family to come up with the money to convince his boss to relinquish the establishment to him and his new partner. ittedly, it's an effective plot twist. Throughout Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage run thus far, Ruben has mostly antagonized Georgie, so the idea of them teaming up seemed unlikely. Now, however, they are set to be paired for the next several years.

Georgie's First Business Partner's Future Is Unknown

Aside from Georgie eventually separating from his current wife, one of the only important details in his future from the canon is that he goes on to own the most successful tire franchise in Texas. When Sheldon's brother debuted in The Big Bang Theory season 11, he talked about his struggle taking care of Missy and Mary after George died while also working on his business. There was never any mention of Mandy and Baby Cece. This is arguably the biggest question that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will hopefully answer.

However, now that he is established to play a big role in the Cooper firstborn's success, Ruben suddenly becomes a very important part of Georgie's professional success. Because of that, whatever happens to him in the future is intrinsically linked to the Cooper family's history. If it wasn't for his unexpected help in the mid-'90s, it's very unlikely that Georgie would have been the successful entrepreneur that he eventually became.

Sheldon's Rift With Georgie Could Explain Ruben's The Big Bang Theory Absence

Behind-the-scenes, Ruben's omission from The Big Bang Theory is due to the fact that the character didn't exist yet. Jessie Prez's role wasn't created until Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage — he wasn't even in Young Sheldon. In of narrative, Lorre and his writers have a couple of ways to explain this. Firstly, Ruben and Georgie were still partners in the future, but because of the Cooper brothers' conflict, Sheldon didn't have any ties with him. Secondly, something happens during the Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage timeline that results in them splitting up, which isn't difficult to sell, considering their current dynamic.
